There’s a little more to it than that though. A racist play isn’t enough to get anyone over the line here, or actually even get them close, IMO. There are some other interests that he appealed to as well. The mega rich (for the tax cuts) as well as Evangelicals (for the regressive judges) turned out for him.
There are parts of America themselves that are racist, and proud of it.

Trust me, I know. I live in a place that partially fits that description, and both of my parents grew up on the other side of the state where it’s absolutely like that. East TN where I live is hilly/mountainous, which doesn’t suit a plantation economy, so was somewhat more pro-Union during the Civil War. West TN is mostly farmland, so the legacy of slavery still runs strong there.

Just amazes me when us Brits see it first hand , people proudly announcing it on TV shows and the like.

I remember a shooting a year or two ago in a gaming cafe. All the eye witnesses pointed out the shooter as being Muslim with Muslim clothes , beard and skin colour. The shooter was a white blond ex marine.......

It's comparable on a smaller scale to here in the UK. You are most likely to find racism in the council estate living folk who in turn are the majority support for the likes of ukip and BNP.

The same holds true coming the other way as well. I remember IMMEDIATELY noticing a difference in race relations the first time I ever went to the UK. Obviously that’s not to say racism doesn’t exist there, as plenty of notable incidents at football matches prove, but it’s much more below the surface in day to day life. Living my whole life in the American south, obviously I’d become numb to the ever-present tension, but once you see it removed, it’s a stark contrast.

The dynamic of Democrat leaning comedy shows to which there are many will have to drastically change now won’t they. Prity much let’s mock Trump shows for 4 years.

Well he forgot about @mezzrow, @verreauxi, @wm02, @Hogwild, and @OKEvertonian to name a few.
Though I’m sure it may upset some, I have long identified with the Republican Party. That said, I am sure that not voting for Trump in 16 or 20 was the right thing to do, so that is what I did. That man should never have been entrusted with the presidency. I believe those are decisions I will look back on and be proud of.

I told my children when Obama was President that while I may not have agreed with his policies I always respected the man and the office. It pained me to have a U.S. President we could not say that about, and worse still who denigrated the office he held by his mere presence.

The president should be a leader, not an extreme narcissist.

I don’t necessarily agree with Biden’s politics, but I respect him as a leader. I sincerely hope his election returns our national dialogue to one of rationale conversation, where well meaning people can disagree without taking, or being painted as taking, ridiculous extreme positions.

Here is hoping that benefits not only the U.S. but other places as well.

Have you applaud you for this mate. Nothing wrong with having a different point of view or liking a different party. You are one of the good ones who recognised Trump for what we all saw. You put your country before your party and that has to be commended.

Well done sir.
