Honestly, it boggles the mind how superior you project yourself to be. Does it need to be that way? Most times I really like your contributions!
Sorry, what? I genuinely don't see how you find that I'm being superior in what you've bolded. It is pretty clear from these threads that the usual suspects do not read conservative publications or engage with conservative ideas. It's a statement of fact, not a moral judgement. I'm sorry if it has offended you though. If you think I'm insufferable try disagreeing with the Warren herd!
What you say about pitching left-wing policies at small business owners is true, but who isn't already doing that? For example, a good deal of Medicare for All's appeal is that it would save independent businesses a staggering amount in health insurance costs for their employers, which often serves as an effective ceiling on growth and investment. And this has always been central to the messaging. Private insurance benefits the large corporate rent seekers that the Democratic Party competes to represent by crowding out upstart competition.
The problem is not so much that Republicans moan about socialism but that it seems credible because the Democratic Party moans about it just as much, to please what they see as their real constituents: tech firms, banks and financial services, pharmaceutical companies etc. They use the socialism accusation to keep their own voters' expectations in line far more than because they are afraid it will deter swing Republicans.
