Honestly, it boggles the mind how superior you project yourself to be. Does it need to be that way? Most times I really like your contributions!

Sorry, what? I genuinely don't see how you find that I'm being superior in what you've bolded. It is pretty clear from these threads that the usual suspects do not read conservative publications or engage with conservative ideas. It's a statement of fact, not a moral judgement. I'm sorry if it has offended you though. If you think I'm insufferable try disagreeing with the Warren herd!

What you say about pitching left-wing policies at small business owners is true, but who isn't already doing that? For example, a good deal of Medicare for All's appeal is that it would save independent businesses a staggering amount in health insurance costs for their employers, which often serves as an effective ceiling on growth and investment. And this has always been central to the messaging. Private insurance benefits the large corporate rent seekers that the Democratic Party competes to represent by crowding out upstart competition.

The problem is not so much that Republicans moan about socialism but that it seems credible because the Democratic Party moans about it just as much, to please what they see as their real constituents: tech firms, banks and financial services, pharmaceutical companies etc. They use the socialism accusation to keep their own voters' expectations in line far more than because they are afraid it will deter swing Republicans.

So please, Democrats, look in the mirror and show a little humility

Don't disagree that the Dem party needs a lot of introspection regardless of the outcome.

However, I don't remember one bit of humility from the GOP when Trump won the EC, but significantly lost the popular vote. Nor would I anticipate any this year if Trump does win the EC and again loses the popular vote.

No doubt. Both sides are very prone to "get high on their own supply."

Our word choice for This Week in Antonyms is Trump and Humility. Since Trump is devoid of it, we have all lost sight of its value.

Genuine question to the Yanks.
I’ve read about people checking their vote online.
This must take some doing, getting peoples details all logged online.

Have any of the blue yanks on here checked their vote ?

I, for one, don't get that impression at all. In fact, I'm incredibly impressed by the knowledge of the folks here regarding US politics. By contrast, you'd be hard-pressed to find similar levels of knowledge about UK or EU politics in a US-based sports forum (or interest, even). Perhaps I read more into your comment than you intended. If so, I apologize.

The proposal being identified as left-wing is instructive. Wages and health care are concerns of "the left". Medicare for All is "left". That these proposals are, overall, better for society is, well, leftist propaganda for SOCIALISM!! Who is gonna pay for it?? We, the business owner will!

OK. I hear you Mr/Ms Bidnessperson. How about a tax cut??

Ooh. I'm listening...!!!

Being silly aside, boiled down, frame the discussion in a way that is heard by both sides in language that is recognizable. If I brought up Medicare for All, for instance, in the Chamber meetings how do you imagine it would be received?
