I thought all Astronauts by default were engineers?

Either way thanks thought that's who he was. Sometimes I lose track of those running in other states given the state of affairs with the assh**s running in this district.

I have been part of the local Democrats here helping the team of the guy running against Darrell Issa. My wife's cousin put me in touch with him.

Not always engineers. The Kelly twins (Mark and Scott) are both engineers but also pilots. Astronauts can also have backgrounds in computer science, mathematics, biology - the STEM fields.

If he does that though it could easily harm, fatally, Trump's reelection - if he replaces RBG then the argument that he will pick a good SC replacement for her and so you should vote for him whilst ignoring the rest is gone.

Maybe, but there are few things McConnell loves more than confirming judges

Clay Travis, whose tweet I posted, isn’t any sort of liberal who is concerned about another conservative judge on the court. He’s basically a COVID truther from Nashville whose radio show Trump has now started calling into regularly because he knows it’s a safe space for him. Even Travis recognizes how bad this is for the US, because like the rest of us, he can see that McConnell is going to try and force this through and knows how much uglier things can get in an already ugly time.
 
McConnell will no-doubt try to ram a Trump nominee IMO, but it's not at all likely that he will succeed.

Already three of the Republican senators (Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins) are virulently anti-Trump. They are expected to vote "no" for a new Trump judge.

If another GOP senator goes to vote no, making it a total of 4, then Trump's rushed nominee (that he will announce very soon, i think) will be a toast.

Susan Collins...is anti-Trump? I mean, just look at the impeachment and who voted against him. Hint: it's literally just Romney.
