The “Gammon” debate

Don't think it counts anymore when racist words are deemed racist based on someone taking a dislike to them all of a sudden.

We know what actual counts as racism, society is just pathetic now.

I left school at 16 mate and went to work for Barrett’s, so I’m not the most educated, but I agree mate, we know what is racist, the problem is we live in a world where everything (especially if you’re white) is deemed offensive or racist, or dare I say it ‘PC’ I mean, no more ba ba black sheep!

Calling someone racist or sexist is just a cop-out for not having a rational argument in a debate. Cowardice in effect.

Devils advocate here, but every slang at white peoples isn’t racist, but everything aimed at all other minority’s is racist or offensive?
If white was a minority, and a truly oppressed and hated also for language and culture, enough that it would affect job and educational prospects for you and your family, then yeah- it would be racist.

Except that in Europe and the USA whites are not in the minority. You will find that racism is less prevalent in the UK than in most other countries of the world, especially those with non-white populations.

Would you like to explain your reasoning behind that statement?

Sure, see Britain First and the BNP and their stance on Brexit for details. And, let's be honest, large swathes of UKIP too.

You don't see many overtly racist groups campaigning to stay in the EU do you?

So no, your assertion that "all racists voted Remain" makes as much sense as "all racists voted Leave" is incorrect, because one is a possibility based on logic and the other isn't.

I’m white, and a scouser who moved down to the South-east from Liverpool, the prejudice against me was unbelievable, people saying ‘jokingly’ “did I lock my car” “watch your hand bag” etc, I take it that was okay.

I didn't say that. What I did say was that people in this country are not as racist, by a long way, as people in other parts of the world.
You also said the UK are less racist than most other countries in the world, ESPECIALLY those with non-white populations, do you believe white people are the least racist people in the world then?

It's not unbelievable though really is it mate, in comparison to communities that have been historically subjected to racism for decades or centuries even, where it creeps into their instinctive behaviour and thinking to try and counter or avoid it

He's sort of not wrong if you consider Muslim countries with different sects of their religion despising eachother, or of course the Rohingya chaos recently, or Christian persecution in Syria and so on.

But it's like comparing apples and oranges due to the socio-cultural differences between those cultures and the west. The reality is we're just as prone to racism as anywhere else; it's just shown in different ways.

Britain First and the BNP represent a very tiny minority of the population, and to say "large swathes" of UKIP, which is very much a minority party which is diminishing rapidly is laughable. The only people I see who are actively campaigning to stay in the EU are the very wealthy who want to protect their comfortable lifestyles subsidised by the plebs they think they can frighten into backing them Yes Tubey, people like you (n)
