The “Gammon” debate

He's sort of not wrong if you consider Muslim countries with different sects of their religion despising eachother, or of course the Rohingya chaos recently, or Christian persecution in Syria and so on.

But it's like comparing apples and oranges due to the socio-cultural differences between those cultures and the west. The reality is we're just as prone to racism as anywhere else; it's just shown in different ways.
that's certainly true, I'm not sure the powerful white man who built the world for himself, put others below them out of outright hatred, more out of greed and a sense of deep rooted entitlement, As you say very hard to compare, and in all honesty I was just quite unfairly yanking @Sarnia Kevin 's tail after a few beers because of the wording of it

Britain First and the BNP represent a very tiny minority of the population, and to say "large swathes" of UKIP, which is very much a minority party which is diminishing rapidly is laughable. The only people I see who are actively campaigning to stay in the EU are the very wealthy who want to protect their comfortable lifestyles subsidised by the plebs they think they can frighten into backing them Yes Tubey, people like you (n)

Mate, you said...

"Not everyone who voted to remain in the EU are racist, but all racists voted to remain in the EU."

'Makes just as much sense' as saying.

"Not everyone who voted to leave the EU are racist, but all racists voted to leave the EU."

I've just given you two examples of why "all racists" didn't vote to remain in the EU.

So you assertion that your statement makes "just as much sense" as the other is invalid, because one is possible and the other is impossible, because there's no notable example of a notable racist group of people wanting to remain in the EU.

This is simple logic.

You also said the UK are less racist than most other countries in the world, ESPECIALLY those with non-white populations, do you believe white people are the least racist people in the world then?
Have you ever been to Africa? The people there are so racist that they massacre people in the next village because they don't belong to the same tribe (never mind race). People in this country are more likely to be murdered by someone from the same race than by another.

I’m white, and a scouser who moved down to the South-east from Liverpool, the prejudice against me was unbelievable, people saying ‘jokingly’ “did I lock my car” “watch your hand bag” etc, I take it that was okay.

In my youth I once tried to get into the navy and had made it to the Fleet Board (which is the last stage before they let you in as (edit) an officer). Made my way down to Portsmouth, took the ferry over the harbour past all the warships and walked up to HMS Sultan, showed the guard my pass and was walked through to where the examinations would take place. I went up to the desk that you had to report at, said who I was and the matelot on the other side of it said "F*ckin hell, another scouser".

Obviously I didn't get in.

er - the people in Africa who you say kill people in the next village over are doing exactly what you say people in this country are doing.

I take your point, but labeling the entire people of a continent as hideous village murdering racists is a little much no?

There is no logic to what you say. Just because you say that all Brexit voters are racists doesn't make it any more true than me saying all remain voters are racists. You don't know what you say is right any more than I know what I say is right.

Not really, because in Africa the people in the next village are viewed as another "race". It's like all Scousers viewed all Geordies as a different race rather than despised supporters of another football club.

Eh?

Perhaps you need to read the sentence again? You know... the part that quite literally says "not everyone who voted to leave the EU are racist"?

Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration for the whole continent, but certainly true of parts of it as shown by the genocides in recent years. Tribalism and racialism aren't too dissimilar.

Okay be pedantic, but the premise was based on the fallacy that people voted for Brexit because they are racists. There is absolutely no evidence that that is true, and if you care to take a look around you will see that the UK is one of the least racist countries in the world. We have a very diverse population that is, in general, welcoming to all and sundry so long as they behave themselves.

They aren't, though.

Racism - that one race is intrinsically better than another and should therefore be in charge - is something that is almost exclusively associated with the West, and specifically with the imperialist history of the West; or more exactly a specific phase of imperialist history of the West where one group of white people had to come up with a reason why they had taken over from another more well established and capable group of white people that didn't acknowledge that they'd stolen that group of white peoples hard work.

What you are describing in Africa is inter-communal violence, which is probably as old as humanity itself.

If ever an "OK mate x" was appropriate, I think it'd be now.

If you think that's the same as being treated differently by potential employers/police, or being called the N word, or the P word, then I truly don't think I can explain it for you. I am also Scouse you know, Mancs, Geordies also say the same tripe to us.
