Andy Gray
Don't think he was any good for anyone tbh! Was ok at Blackburn I think.
So apparently there's just 7 ex-Liverpool pundits?!
In the past 12 months I've either watched or listened to all of the following people work on live broadcasts of football matches or be paid to give their opinions about the game by some national media outlet. All our ex-players and/or confirmed kopites
Carragher (Sky)
Gerrard (BT)
Redknapp (Sky)
Souness (Sky)
Saunders (Sky/Talksport)
Beglin (ITV)
Thompson (Sky)
McMananaman (BT)
Barnes (ESPN)
Nicols (ESPN)
Lawrensen (BBC)
Owen (BT)
Murphy (BBC)
Bellamy (Sky)
And before all of that we had Hansen for 30 odd years boring the nation to death.
Can anyone name anymore, surely there is? Absolutely farcical how many of their ex-players get jobs in the media, even Mourinho a few years publicly said it was a ridiculous monopoly and he was fed up of it.
They were also of course responsible for getting the two match 'simulation' ban for Niasse.Shouldn't be a problem how many are 'for' a certain team; it's just up to the TV companies to pick somebody neutral or to pick an even number from both sides, including co-commentary! There are more than enough to go around. What annoyed me last weekend was that SKY took this option for the other two derbies (Neville on Spurs-Arsenal; Alan Smith on CFC-FFC), but then we had Carragher.
And for the people saying it doesn't matter: the immediate, high-profile pundits shape so much in the game. Particularly when they can be the first one to express an opinion or highlight something. From who gets investigated for diving/elbowing etc., to the branding of a club's playing style, its manager and its players, to what fans think about a team. It stretches so far. Yes, there is a whole lot more that matters too. But to suggest it's insignificant goes completely contrary to evidence.
