@peteblue - care to give any thoughts about someone who is one of the few very respected true journalists left and thus article from him Pete?

If it's shown that the UK has just bombed another country based on false evidence - provided in large part by a foreign office funder Syrian group, then what would your opinion be on that action and the motives?

Fascinated to hear you defend this or dismiss someone like Fisk

Its a must read article.

Its a must read article.

Does it have pictures for Pete?

Can already guarantee it will be dismissed by him as lefty leaning, any anti russian part seized on, the lack of any chemical attack from the people who love theres own mouths, will be written off as they have been planted by the government to lie.

Ignoring the fact that Fisk is one if if remaining very good, honest and impartial journalists left, and what he says carries more weight than some career politicians who went the right boardingg schools

Well to begin with, it was France who believes it has the proof. Right or wrong in this instance, there is apparently proof of a number of chemical attacks by Assad over the years, so a justification to attack remains. The facilities destroyed are almost certainly what the US, UK and France believed were for developing and storing chemical weapons. So even if, and it’s a massive if, a mistake regarding the chlorine attack has been made, which I would doubt, then destroying the chemical weapons labs is no bad thing and probably overdue.......

And yet I didn’t do any of that......

Mate ... really? There all Russian bots

So Syrians are not allowing OPCW access to Douma citing increased ISIL activity in the area yet they are running guided tours for journos and providing meet ups with interesting alleged doctors with stories to tell.

I like Fisk but I think he is being manipulated here.

Ok mate x.

The US-led missile strike against Syria on Saturday targeted research centers and military facilities, including airfields, Russia’s Defense Ministry said, adding that none have received severe damage thanks to the air defenses.

"The real targets of the attacks of the US, Britain and France on April 14 were not only Barzah and Jaramani research facilities, but also Syrian military infrastructure, including airfields," Major-General Igor Konashenkov, a Defense Ministry spokesman, said during a briefing in Moscow. "None of the airfields suffered significant damage" in the attack due to being protected by the air defense systems, he added.

Russia didn’t tamper with site of alleged Douma chemical attack – Lavrov to BBC
All of the US-led coalition missiles targeting the Duvali, Dumayr, Blai and Shayrat airfields were intercepted by the Syrian military, Konashenkov said. The Homs airfield was hit by three missiles out of the 13 that were fired at it, with five out of nine rockets downed before reaching the Mezzeh airbase, he added.

Washington and its allies also used 30 missiles against the much less protected Barzah and Jaramani research facilities, with only four of them being intercepted, the spokesman said.

The Syrian air defense required 112 surface-to-air missiles to bring down most of the 103 missiles launched against the country by the US, UK and France. The Russian-made Pantsir-S1 and Soviet-made S-125, S-200, Buk, Kvadrat and Osa systems, used by the Syrian military, intercepted a total 71 rockets, Konashenkov said.

During his appearance at a tax event in Florida on Monday, Donald Trump claimed that all of the coalition missiles fired at Syria hit their targets, with none of them being intercepted. The US president previously praised the attack, calling it "a perfectly executed strike" that "couldn't have had a better result."

The US and its allies carried out the massive missile attack on Syria on Saturday morning, firing more than 100 missiles on civilian and military facilities in the country. The Pentagon claimed that the attack targeted chemical weapons sites of the Syrian government, despite the fact Damascus had destroyed all of its chemical stockpiles in 2013 and 2014 under international supervision. The missile strike was called a response to an alleged use of poisonous gas in Douma on April 7, which the West blamed on Bashar Assad’s government.

Damascus and Moscow rejected claims that the Syrian authorities may have been behind the chemical attack and questioned whether the attack indeed took place, calling for an immediate impartial probe. Russia also provided evidence, which it said shows and that the alleged incident was fabricated. Incidentally, the missile strikes occurred on the same day that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) experts arrived in Damascus to investigate the claims of a chemical attack".

Trump thinks 70% of missiles not reaching their target is a 'success'. Thank god so few hit reached their target as it probably saved lives.

Did we really expect anything different.......I’m only surprised that Jeremy Corbyn hasn’t been invited to visit......

That Fisk report is conformation that you cant trust western leaders any more than you can trust the likes of Assad or Putin.

Trump/May/Macron = Fake news purveyors.

Tbf to the British public they could smell a rat after the WMD BS and polled massively against the retaliatory air strikes. It seems that people ARE learning not to trust these warmongers simply because they have British and American accents and sit in Parliaments/Senates/The White House.

Syrian airfields bombed lastnight, by the Israelis it looks like, US denying they had any assets in that area of Syria.

Israel owe Trump a few favours so it's not beyond comprehension.
