Swearing Warnings?

It's like the council yellow taping your bin if you leave some rubbish in the 'wrong' wheelie bin. It's done to shame and be a public take down.

It's an absolute 💩house trick.
Moving from Goodison must have been a logistical headache.
I just can't see a scenario where somebody was packing up and thought
"Ah yes here's that box full of leaflets we had printed years ago about swearing. We'd better make sure we take these with us. We can always cross the word 'Goodison' out if we need to reuse them at the new gaff"

The demographics have changed now mate. This new stadium will have attracted a lot of people from socio-economic backgrounds who aren't used to the knockabout atmosphere of a football match.
There can't be that many new people who never experienced the match before this season. Getting tickets is a nightmare for non-season ticket holders and new season ticket holders have been on the waiting lists for years. They must've experienced swearing at the match before. Surely it can't be as daft as just swearing.

I said on the stadium thread a few times: there's a big struggle coming over how this stadium is used in the near future: who the space belongs to; what behaviour is and isn't permissible there; pricing issues. It's a class thing at the end of the day. You cant make huge demographic changes to a fan base like Everton's which is overwhelmingly working class and who've had a sense of a stadium being their own for over a hundred years - with a lot of latitude to act in that space and who've had a financially fairly decent deal from the club - and not face a backlash.

Only the novelty of the stadium has kept that backlash at bay so far. But it's coming. Sure as night follows day it's coming.

Would singing ‘it’s a Grand old team’ using the normal colourful language not be acceptable either..
Interesting considering the club play the music for us to sing along to

Well, there's another 13,000 attending and not all of them are going to be season ticket holder and new season ticket holders who've been on a waiting list, so you'd have to say it's likely many will be new. They may just attend the dd game as members and make the complaint because they know they wont be tied into a particular seat.

Who knows. But the fact that the club are using CCTV as well as the verbal complaint suggests a shift in the way the club now view and are prepared to take action on swearing.

Being told there was also other cards which referenced discriminatory language.

So I figure the majority of cards that were yellow must have neen just for swearing.

It does look a bit amateurish. But it doesn't look like a prank. I wouldn't;t expect to see such amateurish adaptation of a leaflet in the future thiugh.

Do you believe it to be bogus?

In Goodison, being on the terrace was a lot more compact, with the feeling of all the fans on top of each other. At the new stadium it doesn't feel like that, you feel a lot more exposed if that makes sense. Almost like you can see everyone individually in the south stand at least. Which probably makes it a lot easier to single you out for swearing and getting yourself a reputation amongst other fans/stewards, which is why we are now seeing this play out.

I also think thats a big issue why there isn't much of an atmosphere. Starting a song off on your own feels like you are front and centre on a stage ( on your own) in the south stand, it was easier to belt out a funny shout or a start a song from the compactness of the gwladys.

Obviously I have no idea.
I do think it's a possibility though. 🤷‍♂️
The whole thing about 're-using' leaflets that were obviously printed many years ago just doesn't add up.

For those suggesting racist or homophobic slurs must have happened, I'd doubt this as it's a criminal offence and would warrant more than a sticker on a seat.

I know someone who got called in to a meeting at GP a few seasons ago because of reports of someone in his vicinity had been racist, and the club couldn't pinpoint exactly who it was. I doubt very much that the same offence today they'd try and resolve with a sticker.

TBH, I dont like casual effing and blinding myself. But it's compleyetey impossible for most people to go to a match and not let a few slip out. If it's anywhere near the Family Section then that's obviously not right and others around that section should moderate their language. Elsewhere though it's a ridiculous request. Just corporate bullying and a chastening of the 'customers'. If these leaflets are kosher then the obvious conclusion to draw is that they're testing the parameters here and seeing how far they can push supporters on matters of control. They want ideally a sanitised environment with people throwing money at them and zero back chat.
