Play the ressies, those needing 90' coming back from injury and the kids in this comp - if you never give em a chance, you'll never see what they can do.

Derby on the weekend, so I don't want to see anyone critical to that game playing in this one.

Joel
Browning Jags Alcaraz Garbutt
Gibbo Besic
Atsu Osman Oviedo
Kone

...wonder if Stones might start at CB as he hasn't had that much playing time this season. Browning (or McAleney) didn't feature for the U21s yesterday. Agree Garbutt should start and Gibson and Besic. Osman and Atsu seem likely. Might use McGeady. Be interesting.

A lot of discussion as to what degree we introduce the reserve players into this game. I am of the group that is sick of seeing us getting dumped out in the early rounds because we play a full second string team. We do need to rotate some of the non-regulars in so that they can gain match-sharpness but I don't see a reason to replace the entire team. After slating Robles last week before Wolfsburg and hearing about Howard's performance on Sunday, I wouldn't be opposed to either starting as long as whoever does play doers well. I'd expect Swansea to go all out tonight as they don't have Europe to distract them this year. I think Barry and McCarthy should both be rested for the derby for Besic and Gibbo. Put Mirallas and Atsu on the wings, with Garbutt/Oviedo (If he can start) and Hibbo behind them. Stones and Jags in the back and Eto'o up front and a lovely squeaky bum 2-1 win for the toffees.

That side would get dumped out in the early round

All or nothing for me

would be interesting to see R M trying a new formation, attacking or defensive dosnt matter, you know like a, erm let me think, oh i know, a plan b, then when plan a goes belly up, we try something else.

They have to get some playing time somewhere though.

I don't disagree...but an away tie at a Prem club is maybe not the place to do it...unless of course it's not deemed an important competition..in which case play all the fringe players. Half-hearted is the reason we've done nothing in this competition ever

Fair enough like but sooner or later these players are going to have to be involved in situations similar to this, would it not be best to at least give some of them some match practice in these cup games?

....plans don't matter when you concede goals that are down to the most basic human error. If that happens (like Sunday) you end up chasing the game.

when can we do it? Dosnt R M play the same system in the u21,s etc as the first team?

Lads are right you know. We will support any 11 wearing the Everton shirt.
Then fume when we get beat, because had we played a bit better we would have won.
