That I don't understand. Should've been full strength on Sunday without a doubt.
He probably didn't think they where fit enough after the game on Thursday and he wanted to play Atsu and Eto'o.

I still don't think Martinez has fully grasped how much old father time has caught up on Oman either. He obviously hasn't been able to pick up on Hibbert too.

I'd very much go along with this. Martinez has to take blame but multiple individual errors have caused a real lack of confidence in defense and thus turned it into a vicious cycle. What is most disappointing though for me is after getting back on track with a win/clean sheet v WBA followed by a good win in Europe those ridiculous mistakes have shot our confidence again.
And the biggest personal mistake of all on Sunday was the manager's in his team selection.

Like I said, my opinion. You're entitled to yours.

In my opinion, this cup is our best opportunity to rest players especially with a more than massive game coming up. And that we did.
Looked like RM isn't too bothered about the Premier League either given that last Sunday he rested his two most in-form players for it! Clearly he's targetting the EL since he played his strongest side for that one. Try and figure it all out if you can, and when you do explain it to me.

Europa league is the easiest route into the Champions League.

Plus I don't think he doesn't car about the league. He just thought the team he put out would beat that Palace team at home and they should have. What's the point of having a big squad if they aren't played. If you where a professional footballer would you be happy never playing?

I also 'see it for what it was' ................an absolutely awful, disorganised, toothless, dispirited performance against an equally second string opposition, in which there was absolutely no evidence that the manager was in any way even attempting to improve upon the defensive performances of the last month. How do you improve on previous deficiencies if you're not drilling the team and then seeing if they have improved things any.

last season we played as one unit. This season we have a back line, a midfield unit and an attacker or two -- and defensively they operate as 3 very separate units. The striker doesn't close down from the front, the midfield do not protect the back 4, the back four are well shot as a result.

In retrospect I'd have preferred it if he had sent the u-21s to play the fixture tonight and kept his 11 for Saturday at home to use today and tomorrow in intensive training.

Could be all that, or it could be a bad run of form with some stupid errors losing us games and ruining our confidence going forward.

I don't agree with shouts that we pressed a lot last season. We are doing less so season, but I didn't see it as this big tactic of ours.
