So the only people I can see from this match starting are Howard and (maybe McGeady). Perhaps Garbutt as a reward for his performance

I said when he got here he needed a full year. In that full year we were as good as we've been at any time since Royle left. That earned him another year.

Remember how Moyes got us 7th, then 17th and then we stuck with him and he got us 4th?

This guy is a special manager, he deserves more of a chance than to be binned off in his first bad spell. We'll get through this and we'll get better.
 
i would of accepted this result if we had done our job sunday, i wasnt bothered about this game, but my biggest worry is martinez resting players after 5 league games on sunday and still never used them players tonight, why rest mirallas and naismith on sunday? a weeks rest after the palace game would of been enough. honeymoon over for roberto he has put himself under pressure with his stupid tinkering with the team. if he cant organise a defence get a defensive coach in whos got a clue to sort it out, your at everton now not wigan, the last 2 games have been so badly managed.
 
I just have to say the game wasn't on in the States so I didn't watch, but the people wanting Martinez out need to check their head. It's way too early to make a decision of that magnitude. We will finish Top 7. Vault me.
 
Positives.
  • Besic, Garbutt, Atsu, Eto'o made competitive full debuts.
  • Oviedo, Gibson made starts back from long term injury.
Negatives
  • The side looks so afraid
  • Alcaraz is still getting a game or two for us
  • Distin looks closer every game to his bus pass and free TV licence.
  • Besic is a walking red card.
  • McGeady seems to have forgotten who he was vs Leicester
  • Hibbert tonight seemed to show his legs no longer do what he commands in quick enough time.
  • Once Howard used to palm shots round the post, not no more.
  • Martinez has instilled a passing ethic at the cost of defensive cohesion - great when it works, suicide at every other moment.

Last season was built on the aura of difficult to beat left by Moyes, but even then certain results crept in to cast a light on the new regime - 12 months on we are taking the odd clean punch on the jaw and are sent reeling. We will have to get used to this even more for the forseeable.

A definite worry.
