Just got home.
It was all a bit meh wasn't it ?

Bar the free kick, they never troubled us and we weren't exactly all over 'em.
Glad to hear that Barry hasn't broken his leg, but it still sounds like he'll be out for a while, which, given he's arguably our most influential player, is a big loss to us.

To be honest, the highlight of the day was a cream scone and a cup of tea in Barnard Castle on the drive over.

Really frustrating, and a game we need to be winning if we are to match last season's league output. We seriously lack width, especially with Mirallas out. We effectively had three of the same player on the park behind Lukaku, and none of them were playing as a winger, or are really suited to playing as a winger. I don't know what the point of bringing Atsu in to replace Deulofeu was, but that is currently costing us.

Mason, as mentioned, was abhorrent. How Gomez and Wickham finish on the park is a mystery to me, I don't think I've seen a ref influenced by the crowd and a manager as much as today. Whether or not it cost us points or not is up for debate, but it certainly would have made for a different game.

Hopefully Martinez can buck up his ideas for how we combat teams putting everyone behind the ball against us, because we are too slow to get through at the moment, despite him constantly yelling "quicker". Not panic stations, but far from ideal.

Just got back. Highlight was definitely the fella sat behind me, on his feet most of the way through calling Martinez all sorts for not making the right sub, not picking the right team, "you effing Spanish this and that". Then after Baines scored the penno he was having a go at other fans for not joining in with his screaming version of Roberto had a dream!

To sum up, Sunderland is too far away and I'm done in.

Haaa, my sentiments exactly ! My highlight of the day was an excellent pit stop in a real ale pub in Ripon, North Yorkshire on the way home

Sounds like he'd be right at home on here then....
