Summer transfer window.

It made a difference this season and its the reason we didn't get Europe.

We didnt have anyone to replace grealish and branthwaite when they got injured.

Then we didnt have anyone to replace KDH and ndiaye when their form dropped.

We need to bring in players to compete for places this summer. Not players that are just going straight on the bench.

The answer is better caliber of players coming in. Not lets make the squad smaller because the manager doesnt use it anyway 😂
I agree and I am not the decision maker here…

However, I guarantee that nothing will change this summer. Maybe just maybe we will get Hackney in and possibly agree for another loan with Grealish.

Unless we have a fee agreed with George that we want to activate I expect this will be negotiated later on.

As for the other ins I mentioned this will take us all summer and we will end up bringing them in mid/late August and we will have a very similar size squad to this past season With players in there who are never going to be used.

Finally, we could brigg by in prime Cafu and we all know that JOB will be starting RB next season!

I am just trying to be realistic based on our ambitions and the current manager.

The fact we have shown interest in wanny B suggests we would not be starting job at rb next season

No such thing as a squad player these days. With 5 substitutions in every game you need a minimum of 20 first team players. If a player isn't good enough for the first team we need to move them on.
Exactly. People fret about whether players are starters / first XI players, reality is our “best” XI didn’t spend one second on the field together last season.

Like you say you need 20+ “starting” players and by the time you’re referring to players as squad / fringe players it’s time to be thinking about moving them on and improving.

Why is hackney picking us? Is he a big everton fan?
At 23 he'll be looking for somewhere with a high chance of first team minutes. Will have also seen the progress of Garner and the positive noises coming from Grealish and KDH.

I know we're all a bit down on Everton at the moment but think we're a good choice for someone of his profile.

Imagine we still hear of needing to "balance the books" or "look in a different market" from Moyes or Kinnear.
Our market is either jarg old players with ‘proven prem experience’ or rando European league player with no consideration of how they fit into our one system we play.

I welcome looking in a different market tbh 🤣

According to the lad who has an inside track on this one, we've just done a good job of persuading him and his agent.

Spurs, Palace, Brighton, United and Liverpool have all shown interest but we've convinced him that we'll be there or thereabouts in terms of wages and football-wise, we are the best move for him. Supposedly he did fancy working with Carrick again but his agent convinced him that wouldn't be a great move for his career.

I think we've done well to see off Brighton as they're generally a really good career move for players nowadays.

Are they good squad players though, Villa didn’t think so and they’re a team on the up. We may as epl keep McNeil as well. You have to sell fringe players that aren’t up to the job, to move forward. If next season, Myko, Keane, Tarkowski , Beto or Barry or both are on the bench then we’ve improved the first 11 and the bench.

You have to move forward. Next season Alcaraz and Tim cost the club probably 10mil in amortisation costs. So as well as make money on the pair. We can use that 10mil, which in theory gets us a 50mil player or two 25mil players on 5yr contracts
Next season Charly walks out on a free, if it's to a Foreign club it can be agreed by January where he's heading.

That isn't really true.

There is no comparison in terms of club size, Everton are much bigger than any of those you mention.

Players and their agents will be able to see the potential in Everton and probably bigger wages as well.

Last season was about consolidation and for some time we could have exceeded that only for a disastrous finish.
Next season the expectation is European qualification, anything less than that is failure.

Sunderland will have to consolidate their position in the division as the second year is very often more challenging.
The other clubs you mention are having their best times ever while more or less being on a par with us all season.

Everton, on the other hand, consider this season a poor return and the demand is to achieve much better results going forward.
It can be true. Like you say, there's potential at Everton and we're aiming for European football next season but if we don't get it, then we're probabaly just going to be a case of anonymity again in mid-table.

We can attract players due to wages, but a lot of those are going to be players on the decline or who've played for the biggest teams at the top in the past.

We don't know what the club are actually expecting or demanding. It seems they're comfortable with Moyes and there's not much standing out that screams ambition.

Villa are Villa. One of our peers, along with Tottenham. Villa are paying Everton wages, not Brentford wages. Nobody is turning down money for a chance to win the conference league!

There is a bracket of player that can demand both high wages and Champions League football. Outside of that elite bracket, wages are the biggest pull, along with location and family considerations.

But nobody is turning down serious money because they want to experience the Europa League. If they were, then they’d choose clubs that qualify via the Swedish league or something. When people make that argument about European football outside of the Champions League, they are providing an excuse.
Players want to play in the top leagues as well, I can't see many wanting to play in a league of minows.
