Summer transfer window.

It depends on the player and where they are in their career. If I was 19 and looking for a stepping stone club to get to one of the big European clubs I would 100% join Bournemouth, Brighton or Brentford ahead of Everton or Spurs.

That’s an extremely niche scenario. One which involves someone turning down the greater wages offered by Spurs or Everton based on the belief that they have the ability to eventually be sought after by the elite.

It’s not the norm. There isn’t a litany of players that have turned down Everton in favour of Brentford on the grounds that it will facilitate a move to Bayern Munich.

We're talking to Toney again.

About what? How much money hes making in saudi.

but even if he wanted to come back and he's willing to take a 75% pay cut.

Doesn't he needs to be there for another year to avoid paying tax on all of the money hes earned over there? Otherwise he has to pay 50% of what hes earned in tax?

Thats what ive seen reported and if thats true, why would he even think about coming here

It's not niche that describes most of the players signed by Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth, it's their MO.

Earnings paid as an employee working over there wouldn't be taxed so long as he fulfilled UK non-residential rules for the tax periods I think.

Stuff like signing on fee or image rights would be a bit more complicated dependent on timing and other stuff.

But there’s little to no evidence to suggest those players also had an offer from Tottenham or Everton on the table, and that they turned down those offers in order to sign for smaller clubs on lesser wages.

The truth is that those clubs were the biggest clubs interested in those players at the time they were being scouted.

Hey young and upcoming Brazilian playmaker , this is Everton , we understand you want to showcase your talent in Europe but we dont get relegated and we won the FA cup in 1995 20 years before you were born .

We've got a world class sponsorship deal on the stadium and you can see both cathedrals from a certain window.

How about it ?
