"Proven Premier League experience is preferred"

Here we are in 2026 people, still feeding from the tiniest pool in world football - its even a smaller pool when you consider the players who would improve us, who are willing to come to us, who have played in the premier league.

I thought we would have moved on from this... I genuinely wonder when we look at other clubs signing these players from abroad, do we go, oh they will never make it here no experience, then when they start ripping it up - do they just pretend its never happened?

We really need to get out of this mindset as a club, it basically leaves us continually looking at players from relegated teams.

Just watch Bournemouth's next masterstroke outscore our "proven Premier League experience".

I can see it coming from a mile away.

It's so frustrating mate.

I even look at our ESC spots and think why haven't we even had a punt at someone from like Brazil or somewhere else.

I really hoped the Freidkins would bring a level of - the world isn't just premier league, but I feel like we have doubled down on it tbh. Take a risk, somewhere, anywhere and see what happens.

Out of interest, excluding players at those clubs that got promoted, who were the best right and left backs in the last seasons championship?

Welcome back Mr N. Maupay

I mean, it's not as if we're completely averse to buying/loaning players without prem experience (Barry, Beto, Kean, Tosun, Rohl, Aznou, Chermiti, Lindstrom, Onana, Gomes, Gbamin, Straq etc.)

It's just that 9 out of 10 are utter, utter garbage.

I get where you're coming from, but isn't it funny how players can get there Prem experience elsewhere and we end up with numerous- 9 out of 10 - duds when we try it? Something is broken.
