Summer transfer window.

Haven’t seen very much of Hackney at all, but from what I’ve read he’s a similar sort of player to Garner? Kind of an everywhere, jack of all trades CM? Is that a correct assessment?

If so, we’re still lacking a proper DM to cover those massive gaps we leave. Unless he sees Garner in that role going forward.
No, definitely not. He's more of a playmaker

He's a really good player, Hackney. One of the best I've ever seen at Championship level, but it worries me that he's not been picked up before because what he does with the ball makes him such an obvious target for PL sides. It's what he does out of possession that seems to be the problem, which makes me surprised we'd want him.

He`s also good for a card too.

I`m not knocking the lad, as he`s a very good player, but his late stuff would have to be curbed in the Premier League.

Knowing Everton, the plan is to move Garner to RB

Yeah I’ve said the same before. I’ve liked what I’ve seen of him but it’s odd that he’s got to 24 with best part of 200 games under his belt without anyone properly taking the plunge, something must have been putting people off.
Whats putting me off is that he isn't a right back. I swear on my life if this window closes without us getting an actual real life full back, I will become the first person in English legal history to get lifed-up for happy-slapping a football coach and his CEO to death whilst crying my eyes out!

Considering the amount of tackles Garner makes, he is very much a DM. He is proficient enough that when we actually have attacking fullbacks, he can drop into their positions to cover (like Barry used to do).

I don’t know anything of Hackney, but if he is good enough, then a midfield 3 of Garner holding with KDH and Hackney as CMs in front of him seems solid. (Then have Rohl, Armstrong and Tim as options).

Just then need a RW, Stirker, RB, LB, CB.

Worth a read re Hackney if you've got 15 mins on your hands.

It's critical of him, but sums up quite well why I think no PL team has taken the plunge before now.

Again, I think he's the best player in the Championship in terms of ability, but worth understanding why there's been mixed feelings about him because if you watch a highlight package of what he does with the ball, you'll scratch your head wondering why he's still playing in the Championship

Feels like the agent is using us to drive up the fee for Hackney, but hope I am wrong.

I can’t believe after the way Moyes handled the young signings from the last window that any young player would want us as their first choice.

What would you think the fee would be?

I ask because I saw a fee mooted last night that blew my mind
