Summer transfer window.

He got asked about his plans in the summer regarding recruitment and he said we have a big summer ahead but obviously finances play a big part so we will see what we can do.

Didn't sound like a war chest to me
Ah right thanks. I do think the two summer window plan Kinnear was talking about was probably relating more to a squad rebuild than a 1st team rebuild so in that context there probably isn’t enough money to spend in one window. Added to that Moyes is the guy who will also downplay expectations in order to manage them.

What I would hope for, is to have spent 1) more money than last year given we have had 1 season of increased revenues and 2) spend it more wisely with the new recruitment team in place. If either of those are a no, then it will be disappointing.

I know its silly season and we get linked to all kinds but with Moyes i am not expecting anything great, he will go for 28 plus year old experienced prem players who are either out of contract or no one else wants, he will also be back on for Delap that's a given.

Full backs i wouldn't hold your breath as he likes big groks there, he may go for a centre half to keep Obrien at RB

What is the difference? Does the first one mean buying players specifically with the intention of them taking up a space on the bench rather than playing in the first team? I don’t like this idea.

….other than a reserve goalkeeper, since Moyes returned I don’t believe we’ve signed a player aged 30+. Looking at permanent transfers last summer, the oldest player was 26 and the average age 22. The older players in this squad were inherited.

Be interesting to see if that trend continues now James Smith is in place as Head of Recruitment and Nick Cox as Technical Director as it seems they both have the key roles.

Personally I just want us to sign good footballers.
Now your just being silly

I don’t either, I’m just saying that’s that I suspect this is how they are treating it which is why Moyes answered that question the way that he did.

For me you buy first teamers in and the displaced first teamers become back ups or you sell them and buy young potential as back ups

That implies the younger players we bought were played and used as part of the squad this season.

We have one of the oldest starting XI in the league.

Ake
Stones
White
Trippier
Soucek
Bowen
H. Wilson
Toney

Would be an absolute Moyes wet dream of a transfer window.

Not sure about the young one Captain Moyeswright. Also ...don't tell them your name Dibling.

I am going into this summer completely flat about the quality of non-playing people we have at the club and I’m not particularly high on the playing side either.

Off the field, we have supposedly hired a few key people to advance us but it seems the rank and file behind them still have the old Everton mentality of being “happily dissatisfied” at their core.

How about they just be constantly dissatisfied instead because a club that is happy with where they are today will quickly find themselves in the Championships before long. We need a complete clear out of the Kenwright way of thinking and introduce a best in class or striving for best in class mentality.

All of this sounds very high performance podcast but it’s true

…..bit mixed I’d say. Rohl certainly been used but maybe should’ve been used more, Barry has also been used and I’d say both are certainly ‘part of the squad’. Obviously KDH a central part of the team. There’s only Aznou and Dibling who I’d say have not ‘been part of the squad’, Aznou low money, low risk.

Ultimately Dibling has been the big disappointment but the acquisitions have generally been young players and mainly ‘part of the squad’. The older players you refer to were inherited and I expect many will be transitioned out with rebuild over next 12 months or so. It won’t be instant.
