Yep. That was my point. He'll end up on loan somewhere, nobody is paying anything close to the fee Newcastle paid for him, so a loan looks the most likely outcome.
We were after him in summerSome of the names being linked for the summer are alarming imo. Utter rubbish I will be so disappointed if spunk money on the likes of Delap and others, we are even being linked to the likes of Jason Knight ffs (a decent player) but nowhere near good enough for PL football.
We don't even know who our manager will be or if we'll have European football, I think it's way too early to get flustered by the transfer rumors, most speculation is emanating from spurious clickbait sites like football insider so I wouldn't be concerned about the names being bandied aboutSome of the names being linked for the summer are alarming imo. Couldn't disagree more, tbh neither of them are great but Barry is taking some unfair stick from fans, most of whom wouldn't know a decent player even if someone pointed one out to them. Also its hard to judge any striker properly in this setup really as its woeful in terms of creativity and support for them.
The new Southall statue at BMD?
Our fans desperately need to get a clue about Barry vs other prem strikers
Delap has less xG per 90 mins and a THIRD of the goals per 90 mins than Barry while playing for flipping Chelsea. Not had a single key pass all season. Loses possession 1.5x as much. Lower pass completion. Won fewer possessions. Misplaced more passes.
All this on a team that has scored 47 goals to our 29. If you think we'd be much higher with Delap over Barry then you need to question why you think that.
No...my eyes see Barry falling over when no one is around him, stumbling with the ball, not moving to the ball on the odd occasion it is passed into the area, getting pushed off the ball easily, sulking on the benchNot interested in arguing with you and your stats...Delap is having a crap year but im pretty sure that a lot of big teams were willing to throw big money at him last year. I dont even like him, just having a hard time listening to anyone tell me that Barry is an EPL center forward.
Good point. I could see Delap fitting in with Moyes style of football as he's more rough and tumble than technical polishBecause play much more like Ipswich ( where he was last year ) than Chelsea …
He scored goals for a team that primarily plays deep and not one like Chelsea that’s constantly playing against a low block .
He also worked harder and fits the recent mould of Everton strikers …ie hard worker over quality .
Barry has only got any minutes because Beto is even worse … he scored for a few games in a row … much like Beto did last year but their al round game and contribution is extremely low ..
Not saying delap is the next Henry but his work rate and superior finishing to our two donkeys would have yielded a few more wins/points and in a league where we were ( somehow ) close the CL position before the brentford game … we would’ve much higher up the league imo

I'm undecided on Delap. I think any striker who scored double figures in the Premier League has something to offer (in a relegated side too). But it's clear that to get the best out of him you need to play a more direct and physical game rather than a slower technical one. So it would depend on who the manager is to decide whether he'd be worth signing or notIf we had signed Delap last season it would have made sense.
However having seen how limited he is this season I would be very disappointed if we went back in for him.
Being better than the absolute dross that we have as strikers in our squad should not be the criterion to judge a replacement by
