Summer transfer window.

Fully agree.

Aside from Arsenal and Man City and maybe Manchester United, the rest is up for grabs.

Liverpool have a lot to sort out. Van Dyke has become a liability. Do they stick with him? Isak hasn't looked the same player following his injuries - does he recapture his best form? How do they incorporate Wirtz and not ruin the balance within the team. Mac Allister has not looked the same player and Gravenberch not as effective as the holding centre mid.

Tottenham will have likely finished 17th in back to back seasons. No guarantee they would suddenly finish about Everton. State of their goalkeepers, Romero and VDV likely to leave, injuries generally etc.

Gordon will likely leave Newcastle with Tonali and Livremento also strong possibilities to follow suit. Big money spent on three forwards amounting to over £200 million yet all have failed to date (Wissa, Elanga and Woltemade). How much money will they have to spend?

Aston Villa have limped over the line to reach the Champions League.

The likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford will all have European football to contend with.

It's very annoying to have likely missed out on European football for next season but the opportunity will again be there next season.
I agree to an extent.

What you've done there is point out all the issues that the teams who will want to be qualifying for Europe currently face.

That's fine, but that's not to say any of them won't address their failings and even as things stand right now, there are 9 better teams than us in the league.

I am adamant that we have to be getting Europe next season, but it's naive to think that we will improve and nobody else will.

I don't think it's pessimistic to suggest that Europe next season will be a challenging target, but equally I don't think it's unfair to suggest that if he's backed well in the transfer market this summer that we should be getting Europe otherwise we should probably be considering a change of direction given the contract situation of the manager, his age and the fact that nobody will really be able to say we aren't in a stable position anymore.

We should not forget that a lot of our issues are of Moyes creation. JOB at RB is a choice Moyes makes every week. He has other FB options, Patterson, Coleman, Garner, Rohl… yes the last two would be out of position , but so is JOB!
Moyes was picking McNeil to start over Dibling, George, Armstrong and Rohl until a couple of weeks ago. Moyes makes the 65th minute striker switch every game rather than ANYTHING different.
Moyes has largely ignored George as a loan signing and refused to give Aznou a game.
Moyes keeps putting the Tarky/Keen pairing out there despite evidence that they give away goals.
It is no use us fantasizing about players to sign if we have a manager who only picks the same team week over week.

I'm not claiming that we improve and nobody else does.

It would be naive to think all those teams plus Chelsea will improve past Everton.

The opportunity will be there because teams will struggle to back up their league form with European football. Man Utd the big winners from last season but their net transfer spend was always likely to result in this outcome.

Whilst teams like Tottenham and Newcastle will be looking to finish above us next season it would be very disappointing if Everton don't finish above Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford given their likely European commitments next season. I also think Villa will be well within sight as they will be playing Champions League football next season.

So a 6th-8th finishing league position is a very realistic and attainable aspiration next season if the recruitment is on point.

This summer window is going to be very interesting! No excuses now, the transfer team is fully in place and has been since September. Everything that they want to do should pretty much be fully in place by now. If we are dithering and scrambling about this summer then it is a clear indication that the transfer team and the manager do not agree on anything at all, and one of them will need to go.

I have no confidence whatsoever that we will bring in who we need let alone deal with the weak areas of the team. Do you?

Feel like many players are playing for their futures and a i suspect the manager and club feel the same

If im being totally honest, the last 4-5 weeks have been damning for a lot of our players, we threw away points Vs Norway, West Ham, Cith and Everton and that is on the players and squad.

If they cant get us were we need to go we need move a lot of them on, even if they are "ok" or "I dont mind" or if "they could only _______ they'd be a top player".

We need to be ruthless and have winners.

Players have bottled it in recent weeks in my opinion.
Good Lord! Things must be really bad if we're even throwing points away against ourselves my son.

God bless.

That's correct and you've 100% nailed exactly why the entire committee at Everton should be fully aligned and ready to 'press the button' and attack the market with already-defined first and second choice players.

However we all know it'll be another summer of pathetic disarray, missing out on targets and scraping the barrel towards the end of the window, starting next season with Keane and McNeil in the first game.

If your spoiler is correct, whilst it will not be good at all, that will still prove very interesting. Since the new ownership came in, a hell of a lot of time, money and effort has been spent on backroom staff, a few of which are directly related to the recruitment side. If this summer it is all 'same old, same old', then I would assume that some tough questions will need to be answered, and the owners have not really shown themselves to be shy and retiring when it comes to showing people the door.

We should sign this fella. I remember seeing him a couple of times about 20 years ago as half-time entertainment (I think he's still going, somewhere).

One thing he did was balance the ball on his head and run up the full length of the pitch with it, turn round and come back to where he started, ball still stuck to his head. We could just have him do this, give him the ball, up on his head, run into the opposing teams' goal, nobody would be able to/allowed to tackle him as it would be a foul.

Get on the phone, Angus.

It depends on who picks the players, if it’s the recruitment team again we are screwed, if it’s Moyes we will be ok.

Someone will have to lead. What we really don't need is two groups who are vehemently opposed. Some would also argue that if it is Moyes, then we will end up in 3 years with a team full of 34 year olds that we cannot move on. It's another crucial window.

People say this kind of thing every bloody year; talking themselves out of any kind of expectation or positivity before a single new signing has been made, and months ahead of pre-season.

How can we ever cope with Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton?
We all know what the narrative will be for next season, it'll be "Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle are so much better this year, 9th is realistically the best we were ever going to do". This'll be after we spend another £100m and it'll still somehow be down to the weaknesses in the squad that won't be anything to do with the man who spent £200m in two years. Vault me in 12 months.
