Summer transfer window.

Agree, we also need a mobile midfielder to replace gueye.

You could argue last Summer we bought
a new left back - never plays
a striker - not in control of his limbs (although I think he shows promise)
a midfielder - never plays

Whoever is in charge of our recruitment for about 40 years has been stealing a living.
I think the need to directly replace Gueye is going to become the biggest myth/talking point of this window.

Without him we looked arguably better in midfield. He wins the ball a lot, in part because he gives it away a lot. The energy of KDH, Armstrong and Garner (and Tim and Charly in reserve) are more than enough replacement for what we’ll miss when Gana goes, and they’re all roughly 25,000x better on the ball.

There's Rohl as well. We should be using the rest of the season to bed in next seasons midfield. Same at centre back.

I think we can achieve that with no negative impact on the team this season.

I’d go with
Pickford
Patterson
JOB
Branthwaite
Myko
Garner
KDH
Joeys love child
Skill man
Barry
George
Bench would be strong enough assuming everyone stays fit
For the rest of the season
It’ll never happen in a million years mind but it would let the club know what we need for next season
2 FB and a striker minimum along with Rohl Grealish and George if he works out

unless we spend big money on a new midfielder who is like a bruno guimares level signing for us, i think gueye can be replaced from within the side.

garner already is completing the most amount of tackles and interceptions in the league to begin with, and iroegbunam is also a brilliant ball winner and carrier

we can see rohl and armstrong also have the tools to be ball winners and cover ground

i think central midfield, along with goalkeeper, is the last position we need to spend any money on

the funds should be going towards

a starting left back
a starting right back
a starting striker
a starting left winger (or right winger if grealish not pursued and ndiaye moves to left)
a back up versatile winger
a back up right back
a back up left back (if mykolenko released and aznou sold/loaned out

to then sign a top class centre mid on top of that doesnt seem feasible

We are getting linked with Senesi of Bournemouth on a free atm which would suggest a CB leaving but a player like that would not be coming here to sit on the bench.

You'd think it was the position where we are best covered. But we were looking quite hard at Ake and some rumours about Stones also.

Doesn't feel like the best time to sell Branthwaite given his injury so not sure why this would be an area of focus. Personally, would ship Keane out and get a young development 4th choice centre back.

I think another defensive midfielder should be acquired especially one that could be more of a anchor such as Gareth Barry or gibson , but completely agree in regards to us having to replace Gana as you accurately stated although he's good at recovering the ball he frequently turns it over and he has no positional discipline so he creates major gaps in the midfield

Maybe Moyes might persist with his 4 CB's nonsense and bring in a Keane replacement to play with Tarks (Senesi) and then move Branthwaite to LB!!

Oh I agree, but I don't trust the club though
They should be in for preseason, the issue and it always will be m, is the manager.
If he’s insisting on a certain profile IE a O’Brien type full back, 6ft3 etc and he has to have prem experience or at least be at an age to have quite a lot of football behind him. It narrows the pool we’re fishing in.
