Payet is a great shout. REckon we could get him on cheap, as Marseille have some financial problems. He's brilliant player.

I saw from a respectable French football Twitter page that's really clued up on all things French football and they said Marseille need to rake in between €15-20m this summer to break even!

Apparently Imbula is the one that might go and bring the big fee in but there are others who could leave. Payed possibly being one, N'Koulou is another we've been linked to, Batshuayi, Thauvin...

It's not an exact science.
The Guardian is normally pretty credible though.
Deulofeu coming back is vaguely credible

Just coming up with a wish list and a boss formation which costs more than we could reasonably be expected to afford wouldn't be tolerated, but if someone puts forward a possibility based on something reported in half way decent sources which is within budget, then it's worth having a sensible conversation about.

Having sensible conversations about Everton used to happen on here more often than it does now. This is an attempt, possibly doomed to fail, to encourage a revival of common sense.

Now this makes sense.

So this Prayet lad got a gazillion assists last season? And is featuring in loads of top lists for last season?

From what I've seen of him over the years, Payet predominantly plays from the left, he always seemed to me to be a right footed left winger. But maybe he as been playing at 10 for Marseille?

Why do people doubt wether we could sign Payet or not? Ayew as just left the same club as his for Swansea! Some people will go to just about any club in prem just to play there and get a good deal, and I'm sure Payet would be the same.

What if we spend 20m on him and he starts sulking September 3rd, cos the tea lady made his tea with only 1 sugar?

He won't cost 20m. If Kev and Lennon are between 6-12 I would guess at his age playing in a smaller league at one of the smaller clubs with financial problems I think they would be lucky to get 10m.

Deulofeu will cost about 6m-8m which leaves around 2m-6m for a CB.

Assuming we're even in for any of them.
