Maybe, but it’s not Harrison’s fault the club paid him what they did. No reason to attack the man there… only the club.
I maintain you can’t ask for more than a person’s best, even if that best is far from good enough. Harrison was the player we had, perhaps all we could get other than blooding a youngster… but you never know how a youngster’s gonna handle the occasion. As much chance they wilt and become a liability (Harrison wasn’t that I don’t think, he was just unproductive) as they contribute something in a side flirting with relegation. Huge pressure - and at least Harrison was an experienced head. Plus it’s not as if our youngsters are brimming with potential right now.
I can see that playing Harrison was, to some degree, pragmatic in an environment where taking risks could easily be seen as reckless. Particularly given the potential price of a misplaced gamble.
Was he [Poor language removed]? Yes. Is that a reason to slate him when he could clearly do no better and the club elected to pay him - no. Is that a reason to think ill of him? No.
