Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

But obviously tried his best - can’t ask for more than that from anyone. He was what we had and helped keep us up. I bear him no ill will and wish him well.

For £90k per week i expect more then "tried his best" tbh.

The lad was absolutely abysmal and cost us nearly £10m over his time here.

I genuinely think if we just thrown a fast kid from the academy into the team and gave him the game time we gave harrison we'd be in a better position and probably have a sellable asset to boot.

Geny may have to undergo an intensive course in Hard Yards.

Maybe, but it’s not Harrison’s fault the club paid him what they did. No reason to attack the man there… only the club.

I maintain you can’t ask for more than a person’s best, even if that best is far from good enough. Harrison was the player we had, perhaps all we could get other than blooding a youngster… but you never know how a youngster’s gonna handle the occasion. As much chance they wilt and become a liability (Harrison wasn’t that I don’t think, he was just unproductive) as they contribute something in a side flirting with relegation. Huge pressure - and at least Harrison was an experienced head. Plus it’s not as if our youngsters are brimming with potential right now.

I can see that playing Harrison was, to some degree, pragmatic in an environment where taking risks could easily be seen as reckless. Particularly given the potential price of a misplaced gamble.

Was he [Poor language removed]? Yes. Is that a reason to slate him when he could clearly do no better and the club elected to pay him - no. Is that a reason to think ill of him? No.

Don't rate Albert Gudmundsson at all. His goal record is nothing to shout about and any contract here would take him into his 30s. Nothing at all to suggest he would pull up trees.

It might be a runner though as the links seem to persist.

Spending on someone like Barry is a gamble I'm not sure Moyes would be willing to take, unless we could negotiate the fee down.

In general I'd prefer potential over an experienced, but ultimately average striker but there are no easy answers.

Seriously underwhelming him

100%. Can we stop with this "thanks for running about a bit" mentality please, absolutely stinks. Its the absloute bare minimum expected.

Yeah, but that's the thing though isn't it. It might be the bare minimum you expect, but it doesn't mean it's the bare minimum every player will give you though, does it? We've seen players saunter round without a care in the world, the likes of Delph and Maupay and so on. We'll see it again too; every club will sign a stinker from time to time. I appreciate players who are good pro's and work hard. It doesn't mean I expect nothing else from them though or never think they can be improved upon.

Way too much sense spoken here for the transfer thread!
