Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If Dibling becomes an England international then where we are today, we likely arent signing him. Where we may be tomorrow, he'd cost a fortune.

If were not able to typically sign established players today, we may find that one may slip through the cracks where top sides arent interested (for whatever reason). Then we should sign them.

If there are players that the club believes will go onto become top players (Delap) then we should try for them. If there are younger players who we think will become top players (Dibling) then we should try for them.

All within the transfer budget and with clear priorities.
Hard to judge for an end of season game where his side has already been relegated, but he didn't do anything against us.

For a big fee like that then we should be looking at players that can make an immediate impact, not potential for a few years

I have a feeling Moyes will persist on starting O'Brien RB next season.keeping Branthwaithe and Tarkowski the CB pairing until O'Brien takes over from Tarki. Might bring in an up and coming RB to be back up till O'Brien moves into CB.
Would like if they brought in a more attack minded LB to rotate with Mykolenko. Play Myko against the stronger attacking sides and the new LB against the weaker defensive sides
Its good to have the option of playing O`Brien at RB to give us more time to find the right fit for that position. I hoped that Paterson would come good when he got some game time but he was well out of his depth any time I saw him.

The type of players who are going to cost that much are going to want wages of 100k upwards, probably nearer to 200k given that they'll also be players that will likely be getting offers from better clubs.

We need to be sensible. This window should be a case of walking before we run.

More than we can afford on top of the purchase price. Delap will also be looking for big wages but his amortisation cost will be half of that at about £6m, wages would be prob another £6m to £8m per year.

So in the region of what we have been paying Doucoure.

We were paying Arteta 75k a week about two decades ago during the Kenwright austerity years.

Just because we paid Doucoure that it doesn't mean we should have been. Said it before but we are rebuilding a squad, not just adding some sprinkles of pixie dust to it. We need to be astute with our funds and ensure we get more Ndiaye and JOB types in the building. Sensible fees, perform well and increase in value.

That should be the plan.

I'd be happy with that

This is Brighton and Fulham talk, and not Newcastle and Villa talk. It’s possible to spend good money without spunking it up the wall. It’s also possible to waste supposedly smaller spending on absolute dross like Maupay.

Personally, I’m sick and tired of having Villa and Newcastle spoken about as if they’re a cut above us when they were both recently relegated, and both of them had far crapper squads than what we have right now before they invested in some quality players. Take the points deduction away and we have had two mid-table finishes in a row. Newcastle and Villa were starting from far worse starting points than we are right now.
