Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

That’s one I’d the worst things I’ve ever read!😂😂😂😂😂
In 2015, Everton explored a deal for Virgil van Dijk, who was then at Celtic. However, the club found the fee (around £10–13 million) too steep and declined to pursue it further . He went to Southampton.

As they missed out on van Dijk, Everton turned their attention to Michael Keane, then of Burnley. Keane had been a target throughout 2016–17 and became a key defensive priority.

Everton signed Keane on a five-year deal for an initial £25 million (rising to £30 million).

Keep laughing fella.

So it looks like what is probably the case is that the team have looked at the statistics. Our defence was pretty much champions league standard statistically last season, so will be patched up with frees and loans for this coming season. Money will be spent where it is needed, in the midfield and up front.

Don’t use your brain mate, it’s dangerous.
You must knee jerk like a Russian dancer and then bookend your posts with laughing emojis. That’s the smart thing to do.

I’m thinking that the difference between him and Michael Keane is so obviously significant that a comparison would be embarrassing to make, in other words laughable.

One has won everything in the game and leaves a massive hole behind in the PL’s greatest ever team, the other is one of the worst mistakes his club has ever made.
I'm not talking about his overall playing ability. Michael Keane is a terrible, terrible defender. But there is a definite comparison in how they read the game. Walker is often the wrong side of his man, occupies the kind of positions that would drive managers insane, and loses sight of his man - just like Keane. However, whereas one is a flat-footed plodding dullard, the other was insanely fast and athletic- which can cover many sins.

Walker is no longer that physical specimen and still reads the game terribly.

We signed Funes Mori instead of Van Dijk, not Michael Keane. Keane signed a couple of years later.

I'd argue the centre backs and goalkeeper were pretty much Champions League standard, and the full backs (until O'Brien shifted to RB) were propped up by the others. We definitely need long-term upgrades at both full back positions, and hopefully at least one will be brought in this summer that isn't a has-been, low-motivated sex pest from Manchester City who was previously earning over 200k a week.

I feel a more dynamic fullback would really elevate our attacking potency. Hopefully were getting another RB with Patterson leaving and Seamus retiring, that's probably just wishful thinking. I would be a little underwhelmed by walker but won't rush to judgements regarding recruitment until the end of the window
