Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Well someone is clearly making recruitment decisions if we’ve been speaking to Delap and are about to announce Alcaraz.
Considering we don’t know how loud Delap laughed, and the Alcaraz deal was sorted when he was signed on loan… and Davy is still dithering about if we are going to sign him or not.

You many be being a little premature.

I'm starting to feel like right sided forwards are a figment of my imagination. I could swear every single wide player we've been linked with for years prefers to play on the left.
I think you are about right there....

Have there just been less available the last couple of years or is it all in our minds? Cant remember anyone outside of Minteh really being linked with us

Yeah Minteh is the only recent link I can think of, probably why I was gutted when he went Brighton.

There's definitely more right footed players in general that in the modern game want to cut in from the left, but at the same time it's not like left footed players don't exist. We should definitely be able to find a player for that position.

How do you know that Delap has turned Everton down?
Its been stated from day one he is looking for European football and £100k+ wages, we can't offer either. Don't think we have ever been a serious contender. If you look beyond the G/A column (like a real recruitment person would do) his numbers are really not that impressive, I'm 50/50 on this tbh, I find him a bit meh.

Wages aren't discussed enough in terms of bidding for a player for example buying someone like Doak for what looks like a rip off 20m but on £50,000 a week is a total package of 32m over 5 years including wages.

Where as someone like Grealish on his current £300,000 a week is £78 million over 5 years before a transfer fee is even paid.

Clubs factor in the "total package" more than just a transfer fee like fans do.

I can tell you with a degree of certainty that Liam Delap isnt the only forward in world football.
How many have scored more than 10 goals in the PL, are still young, price suits us & would be willing to come to us?

Moyes signed Scamacca for crying out loud. We could be spending another 40 million on a complete bust. In Delap's case it is highly unlikely he would have been a complete bust.

Delap goes to Chelsea and grown men go to absolute bits on here.

Starting to lose serious faith in humanity.
He was probably the best option for us. Young, relatively cheap, proven in PL. None of the players who scored more this season will be available to us. I laugh when people suggest someone like Mbeumo. Or David earlier. These guys won't even talk to us.
