Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I take it as the club has it's value of a player and the value they want to try to get the player at and likely has agreed in certain cases that we may need to exceed these numbers but only at a certain point in time.

Moyes is basically saying, ok, need to move into the less hardnose stage and be one more flexible to get the players in wanted.

I think in the first instance weve been trying to get the player on side, then negotiate the deal down, thats what we did with Barry mate.

Looking at this logically, Moyes has prob spoken to about 10 players we are interested in - sold them the footballing vision, might know their preferences and then radio silence - the club trying to negotiate the best deal..... That would be my read of it. Interesting the comments came on the day, Forest bid £25 mill for McAtee.........

Exactly, you work out in what condiditons it takes to turn a no into a yes and get it done or dont - that s negotiation.

I suspect what Moyes is flagging here is I'm full sure we know what it will take to say get McAtee done and we're not doing it or trying to be too clever, to get the best deal. He's prob met him and knows his preference, prob like a number of players he's spoken to and the delays could be on our side, trying to box clever.
If Moyes words have the effect I think they are meant to have, we will see a serious bid go in for two players this week close or at what their clubs want, one of those will be Mcatee.

Oh I think it's not even interesting but a direct result of this.

Mcatee is and I think Boyland and Bobble both referenced this also the prime target for Moyes and he wants it done

Hes right to mate, sometimes you need to go and drop £35 -£45 mill on a player, if they are going to be a clutch player for the next 10 years. You can haggle for AMN or a covering full back, but you dont mess around with essential infrastructure building a side.

Fair play. I’m not expectant.
The links have dried up a bit, defo, but we’ve been hit with a transfer or two out of nowhere over the years so we’ll see.

I guess Fofana goes to the wire while he waits for a better offer, so I imagine if we do get any more imminently it’ll be of the likes of Maitland-Niles, and maybe one of the Champo boys; I saw Boro had signed (or were very close to signing, I can’t remember) a midfielder so maybe that’ll set the Hackney ball rolling.

Who’s replaced Pedro?

Who’s replaced Huijsen?

Who’s replaced Mbeumo?

Brentford in particular look like a complete mess this window, their fans are worried about relegation.

Brighton spent close to a quarter of a billion last summer and came 8th. I know it’s a popular idea that everyone else’s recruitment is amazing and Everton’s is terrible but it’s just not that binary.
Kostoulas replaced Pedro , James Hill looked very good against us for Bournemouth. Milambo will be a good signing for Brentford. We haven't even had a right winger for years ..

Hackney is going to Ipswich mate and we haven’t even had a sniff of a link to him all window. Moyes has just come out and basically said we aren’t close to completing any more deals. I would be pleasantly astonished if we had anyone else in before the Leeds game.
