Not an easy choice for him. I’m sure he wants to be first choice somewhere but that’s unlikely to be at a club as big as ourselves. It seems that there are a few links to it anyway. Will he come here to be back up at 27. That's probably his dilemma.

Never seen him play. Is he any good AT ?
Given our limited budget I had hoped we would bring in a no2 keeper on a free and spend the money in midfield/ RW
It’s probably (beef) curtains for Patterson if we sign him…I won't be in a flap(s) if we don't get him
This from your inside man?
I preferred the guy who said we were signing Frendrup.Latest rumour: Hayden Hackney £18m.
Picked us over Leeds and Leverkusen.
Never heard of him![]()
I want back up players who have enough self belief to see themselves as starters. Pickford could easily get a long term injury and I don't want someone with a bench warmer mentality coming in...which leads me neatly back to Keane.I hope this doesn’t happen, because he definitely doesn’t want to be a no 2, he’s not going to be happy here if he signs.
As I said yesterday that’s coming from people close to him, in March I was told he would be prepared to drop down a level to be no1. Yesterday I was more or less told the same thing - that he wants to be a no 1. I realise the journos are saying something else.
I don’t know if we’ve spoken to him or not yet or those close are just giving the above line to me as a stock reply (with the risk of betting and all) and a transfer is on, but I know he was unhappy at Bournemouth being no 2 and actively sought loan moves.
It's a lot of money for a back up keeper. If we pay £5m for him it'll give me some confidence that the budget is significantly bigger than I thought it was.Travers for £5m is a no brainer (if there is any truth in the chatter).
Maybe but on the other hand £5m for a very capable deputy in a key position is peanuts. It's a lot of money for a back up keeper. If we pay £5m for him it'll give me some confidence that the budget is significantly bigger than I thought it was.
….yep, I didn’t see anything of him last season so I welcome your insight but he’s been a player I’ve always liked.
It isn't though really, that's what I'm saying. I'd be happy with it, i'm just saying most teams like us don't pay £5m for a back up keeper, and we never have before. It's a lot of money in a relative sense.Maybe but on the other hand £5m for a very capable deputy in a key position is peanuts.
