There will be plenty of people who think this is a decent move, but I'd be really disappointed. We are screaming out for quality in possession and delivery from left back. If we signed Tagliafico we'd have two defensively sound left backs who are bang average in attacking situations.

I dunno. I'm old-school. Give me defensively-sound defenders any day. Get better attackers for the attacking.

I get your point, though. But if a new full back is good going forward, he really has to be able to do the defensive basics too.

Watched him at Bristol
City in the 18/19 season, very very good player. Sold to Brighton for over £20m.
Not followed him much since then, think he may have had a few injuries. But based on what I saw back then, I’d have him over Keane any day.

Is there any player Chelsea aren’t interested in signing? They’ll have champions league caliber players go will be third choice for them. Why would any player want to join them at this point? Oh wait…it’s all about the money.

Maresca left around 12 first teamers out of his squad last season, and it will likely be more this season, unless they hold a car boot sale in last week of the window. Problem they have is that not many will be able to match Chelsea’s wages so could end up unable to sell and unlike before, they are restricted to a maximum no of loans, so gonna have players making a decent wage but making no career.
