I would like to ask what everyone's opinion on Fer is?

I was so excited when i saw we bid for him in January, and gutted we didnt end up getting him, is there a chance for him this window?

count me in .. just hope we get him this time around. IMO he'd have made the difference in the push for Europe

I'm not into this cash in on Felli stuff. Anyway, as i see it its far from certain he will be moving on.

There's only 4 clubs in england that he could go to. Wenger never buys 20m+ players anymore. I doubt he's on Pellegrini's radar. Moyes has said he wont raid Everton. Which leaves Mourinho at Chelsea... who knows who he'll be after... probably super high profile players with big egos like Ronaldo and rooney.

Abroad, not too many options either. Very few clubs who shop at that level.

The counter argument is that a lot of money will be spent this summer with the new tv deal, but I hope he stays.

Agree 100%. Arsenal and City wont go for him, ManUtd will depend on how true to his words Moyes is as they need someone like Felli, and Chelsea is the wild card as Mourinho could raid Madrid or go for god knows who.

Then we got the other power houses across europe but Felli has said he wants to stay in England. So IMO unless Moyes or Mourinho show real interest in him his staying.

Our next manager should do everything in his power to keep him as long as possible as he is really one of the top CMs in the league when on form.

If Pellegrini signs a new striker for City Dzeko would drop down to fourth choice and might agitate for a move. He'd be pretty much what we're looking for. He's 6' 4", can hold the ball up, good finisher and the right sort of age.

Lescott to replace Heitinga. McManaman in. Another midfielder (possibly Fer) if Fellaini leaves. And a goalkeeper (maybe a bosman) in place of Mucha.

___________Howard
Coleman Jagielka Lescott Baines
__Mirallas Fer Gibson Pienaar
_______Dzeko Jelavic

(Schwarzer, Distin, Osman, McManaman, Anichebe, Naismith, Barkley)

Ha dzeko's wages and transfer fee would be way out of our range

I'd take lescott for heitinga and fer for felliani tho

According to one of The Guardian writers, Howard has been responsible for leaking 13 goals this season through his own error.

That's a crapload of points lost.

Is a new goalie more important than a new striker?

central midfield and attack is where our focus should be - Wanyama and McCarthy for central midfield. Cornlius or Hooper for the striker position.

City paid over the odds to sign Dzeko. He's been a bit-part player, which will have devalued him even further, and they've been trying to lighten their wage bill for the last couple of seasons, so they're likely to be open to offers. The Mail put his current value at £18m.

If we're going to sell Fellaini for upwards of £23m as well as having tv money coming in he should be within our price range. Wages could be an issue though.

Would really prefer Mario Gomez to Dzeko. Might be abt same price.

£18m? I'd question the wisdom of blowing a huge chunk of our summer income on one player when we have one of the smallest, oldest squads in the league.

As for the original post.... it's not often I disagree with the Bleacher Report, but this time they've made some mistakes. They have completely ignored the fact that Duffy is ready to step in the moment Heitinga leaves; We don't need Lescott unless Distin retires this summer, and even then I'd prefer a younger option along the lines of Winston Reid.

Secondly, we don't need a new striker as much as we need starter-quality reinforcements for midfield. Velios, Jelavic and Anichebe all fightng for one space is a lot of depth and money at one position. We need a RM/RW alternative to Mirallas (currently no depth there at all) and a medium-term replacement for Pienaar (Ovideo has clearly been earmarked as cover for Baines). If Felli leaves we need a ball-playing midfielder, ideally quite tall. Times two. Fer, Belhanda, Defour types. I'd also suggest that the no.10 spot could be looked at, but I hope Barkley is the future there.

£18m on one player my ass.
