Summer requirements

I said this the other day Sturridge is an excellent striker for his age not even a prospect he has already proven he can score goals at this level regularly at Bolton. Can we afford him? Depends on who goes out then anything is possible.

Above all else keep the back four safe. Fellaini has got to stay.

Heitinga/ Vaughan / Yakubu / Bily / and the oaf that is Anichebe have got to go as soon as.

Sturridge in and if maybe Bily goes back to Russia sound out McGeady as a replacement.

Lets keep on dreaming!

1. Sell Yak, Yobo, Mucha, Vaughan and Heitinga.
2. Swell the squad with free signings such as Nugent, Obinna, Westwood and Chica.
3. Invest in signings who fit the profile: younger than 28 (still to reach their prime and with sell on value), ideally proven in the premier league, strong team ethic. Chris Brunt fits the bill.
4. Continue to recruit elite young players for the future. Lewis Holtby would be a top target.
5. Remaining income from sales to service debts.
6. Integrate Gueye, Vellios, Baxter, Duffy, Barkley and Wallace in to the first team squad.
7. Experiment with playing styles to break down stubborn opposition. Improve defensively against counter attacks.

Expect Feck all and you wont be dissapointed!
Arh Feck we will be dissapointed who am i trying to kid?
FECK OFF KENWRIGHT YOUR NOT WANTED HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Let's get Kyle Naughton, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge. If we got lucky two of the three might be available on loan. THINK ON MOYLEZ.

I'm sorry, is there some debate around the merits of American teams?

Garston Royal British Legion v LA Galaxy....I know who my money would be on.

No, there's no debate. That much is sure.

However I'd prefer some fact checking on your end before you make any sort of commentary in the future on the quality of MLS teams.

Thanks in advance.

No - there is no debate (as every MLS fan on here has said) as long as folks give credit to MLS for what it is - a solid league that is tier 2. However, what you did was insult the American league. No one on here thinks MLS is Barcelona. However, comparing LA or any MLS team to the "Garston Royal British Legion" or "ale house teams" is just plain snobby and downright wrong. You're being an ass by insulting a league (and its fans) that is much better than what you give it credit for. The teams will be in mid-season and going strong - which again, doesn't make them Barcelona, but does make them more than an adequate test for a squad that's just getting started. Plus, there's money to be made (although we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot on that one).

Get off your high horse man. The teams we're playing are good enough to play us in their mid-season and our pre-season.

Might I remind you (and this against a team that has played together ZERO times):

(although I'm trying not to be embarrassed by Vaughn's horrid peno, Holden's horrid backpass, Baines getting bounced by Conor Casey and LD's horrid sitter)

And that was in 2009, enjoy this from this year (and don't just watch the first 2 minutes) as the league's growth year after year is solid:

Go ahead and bet, you'd lose your money.

1. Have a philosophy and idea of how we want to play going into the season, and put that into practice during pre-season.

2. Don't "go with what we've got". I'm not expecting miracles in the transfer market, but we have enough saleable assets to freshen things up and keep things moving a long.

3. Recruitment should be solely aimed at attacking players, wingers, creative midfielders and forwards. Don't just sign a striker and expect him to score 20 goals a season on limited service, we'll get nowhere.

^Great post. Especially #1. How about we carry that same philosophy into the transfer market. So we should figure it out early, and not on August 1st.

1. Get rid of Yak, Yobo, Vaughan, Bilyaletdinov, Heitinga and Anichebe
2. Sell Baines, Fellaini or Rodwell if a bid of £20 m. or more is put on the table for either
3. Sell Saha or Distin if a bid of £4 m. or more is put on the table for either
4. Sell Arteta if a bid of £12 m. or more is put on the table
5. Get rid of Round and get an attack-minded assistant manager in to counter Moyes' defensive mentality
6. Start Beckford in attack and start playing 4-4-2
7. Use Cahill as the ultimate impact sub.
8. Get in two strikers, one young and hungry (Rodallega?) the other the old wolf still hungry and dangerous (Klose?)
9. Get in McCarthy(Wigan), Moses(Wigan), Morrisson(WBA), Gunther(N'Forest), Westwood(Coventry), Vaughan(Blackpool), and Johnson (Brum), and Lewis Holtby (Schalka 04) if two of Baines, Fellaini or Rodwell is sold.
10. Get Barkley and Duffy playing time

You are crazy. How are you going to use Cahill as an impact sub when he is on holiday like most of the team?

Ok, so where would MLS teams figure in English terms? Championship Level?

This is my point. Everton need top class opposition in mini-European tournaments, just like most of the teams we compete with directly for places in the Premier League play pre-season.

There's no need to get upset, I'm just stating a reasonable point.

A Championship level team in mid-season form is what your looking at. Not bad for Pre-Season Warm-up. Plus the marketing to US fans if you can do it.

Do not think it is that bad to be honest. Real Madrid and Man City are coming this year. Man U was in the States last year.

Stop and think about it.

It would be different if the MLS was in Pre-season as well, but remember these teams are in the middle of the Season.

What Wratho said would be my response and estimation too. You were being reasonable about your point but not about your judgment of the league. That's what got me roaring. :)

Agree with everything here except

1. TB. Your jut telling me what I want hear.
2. Rodellaga?? Put down the crack, hillbillies.
3. MLS?? Pre Season at the MLS is akin to shooting ducks in a pond that ain't got no water and the ducks are four feet long and is tied down. Should come back to Australia, mates.
