Summer hols

My wife fancies the Maldives. People say that a week is long enough. Not sure that I fancy a 10 hour flight if only going for a week. I'm trying to sell her the virtues of the Italian lakes.
I went 10 years ago. I spent £1k a night for a beautiful resort where I got terrible food poisoning. I crapped the bed and broke my toe running for the bathroom. After leaving I went directly from the airport to the hospital where they admitted me and kept me on a drip for most of a day. I wouldn't go back...

If you want a beautiful island vibe go to Thailand. It's way cheaper and the sands are just are good.

Ive been to a fair spread if overseas places, but every time i go I realise more and more that the UK has the best and most varied landscape per mile of anywhere on the planet. Plus you get proper beer anywhere and a great variety of cuisine from different nations.

So I'll go camping again this year ... probably south Wales and Brecon.

No airport rip-offs, not hassle with luggage, no parking charges, no drop off charges, no faff with visas.

About the only drawback will be the British all over the gaff ... but the very worst of us go off and torment europe anyway.

Never used to go abroad in the summer. Plenty of things to do fairly locally. Much nicer in southern Europe Oct/nov time when it’s usually 20 plus but the weather back home is getting cold.

I agree with you there mate, once you get off the beaten track, this country has so much to offer and with a bit of homework, you can do and see a lot on a relatively reasonable budget. ( as long as your not after luxury ! )

Balearic summer.

Booked 10 nights in Majorca as a family holiday a while ago.

Found out there will be a total eclipse on the 12th August (totality seen in Majorca and Ibiza) so booked a short break to Ibiza to see it from the rocks by Mambo and Cafe del Mar.

I was going to Bali on 20th April, but given Australia's minuscule fuel reserves - including jetfuel...none of this expensive 'dead money' 90 days of stuff stored on site for us, no sir, 30 days is plenty

Until it isn't
