Me, her and the 3 kids are going to California over Xmas, going to do Disney and Universal etc then a few days chill out at the beach. Think were going to be in Santa Monica on Xmas Day. The kids first long haul flight so hopefully they will cope with it okay.

You can have a laugh at the pretentious types on Muscle Beach. Kids should love Santa Monica and the pier though - reminded me of the British seaside resort of yesteryear.

We've come to realise our autistic kids don't enjoy it, it's more bother than it's worth, so we'll do a bunch of days out and other stuff this summer instead. Booked some gigs to go to with my teenager, she loves live music and theatre, our lad wants to go to comic con, so that'll be our summer.

Came back from Sharm El Sheik. Sunny, lovely hotel, lovely staff, great food and plenty of drinks.

Is it the authentic Egyptian experience - no of course not but being hot, dusty and constantly harangued for money like a walking ATM isn't what I go on holiday for.

The short walk from the airport arrivals to the transfer was enough of that to be honest. In fact the entire Sharm Airport experience seems to be entirely tailored towards putting people off returning regardless of how great the holiday is.
