More likely Meyer and his agents are hedging theres. He won't want to be stuck there too long and get priced out of a move. I wonder if they have clause in the deal too, although release clauses are not so common in the PL I know.

Yeah, Richarlison and Digne both seemed to have been leaked at the moment it seemed all-but certain they’d sign.

it's very odd that it's a 3 year deal

I imagine palace have a clause to extend the deal by 12 months if they want

I also imagine that they only offered 3 years because they knew how much of a risk it was

this is a guy who scored 0 goals and got 0 assists last season in the german league
