..depends on the opposition, depends on whether we’re at home or away. Tosun missed chances yesterday, but perhaps more importantly he couldn’t hold the ball up. This failure actually led to their first goal.

DCL couldn’t have done worst and would’ve given the defenders more of a physical challenge. Richarlison isn’t a target man, he’d be wanting the ball played behind the back four or in the channels so we’d have to adapt in playing that way.

Agreed. For me Tosun is lacking too much in the athleticism dept to first choice.

A half-decent finisher would have scored at least 1 yesterday, if we weren’t creating chances Tosun could be forgiven. DCL can at least hold the ball up and run channels. Tosun offered nothing yesterday. Not saying DCL is the answer by a long shot, but Tosun needs benching.

I'm a big fan of Tosun - he lacks pace and that's never going to change, but his form this season has been excellent - his role has changed subtly. He now does a huge amount of unselfish work - presses, does a lot of running and his work is creating space for the likes of Walcott and Richarlison. His general hold-up and link-up play has been really good - the unselfish work has been at the cost of goalscoring chances though.

Having said all that, he was really poor yesterday. Missed two excellent chances and had another half chance or two that he never looked remotely like scoring. His all round game was also off. I wouldn't defend his performance yesterday at all, but generally speaking I like him a lot. Think he has a lot going for him.

I have said from day one, though, that I expect Richarlison to eventually be our striker. For one thing, Silva has said on more than one occasion at Watford last season that that's where his future is. For another thing - Bernard's preferred position is on the left. He's being paid in excess of £100k per week. You don't bring a player like that in and play him out of position. Richarlison might have started the season on the left, but I'd be relatively certain that he won't end it there.

We aren't going to throw 50m on a striker in January and to get what we need (25 goals a season) we would probably need to spend more than that.

Only solution is we give Hornby a run out but surely if he was ready it would have happened by now.

..absolutely. I’ve always thought he’s simply not what we need. Another product of the Walsh era.

He's very Jelavic.

Good link up and a decent first-time finish but at the moment he has no confidence at all. Yesterday was the first time he's had real chances and missed them, though. In all the other games he's been restricted to half-chances that would have been great goals had they come off.

He's trying too hard at the minute and that's resulting in things like shooting from 20 yards when there's better options on.

He needs dropping for Arsenal. I'd happily have DCL up top for that game anyway. Pace, and get them stretched a bit, with Richarlison and Walcott plugging the gaps. We then have Bernard to bring on.

disagree, he gave the ball away at least a dozen times yesterday, he's not good enough
