Current Affairs Stop calling him Boris

I always find the "boris" thing incredibly cringey. It's like when the Kopites refer to Klopp as Jurgen, or Arnold as Trent, you just thunk he's not your mate. People talk about him like they've shared a pint with him. I find it all a bit sad. Worse as it's not his name. I just think, he's not your mate.

It’s quicker to type, only reason I’ve ever used it. I saved myself an entire second not using those extra 2 letters.

Well guess what Groucho, I’m from Liverpool, I probably lived there longer than you have. I’m a scouser through and through, from a very large family still based in Liverpool. I have been ridiculed for my accent all over the globe and suffered all the usual scouser jokes, which you still living there may not of suffered. So don’t pull the Liverpool collective thing on me. I don’t do self pity city. I take all sorts of crap on here for having the temerity of voting to Leave and I know what various politicians have done for my city. So yes, I support Boris, because he will do what’s right for our country, unlike your champion Corbyn who’s Labour have done absolutely nothing but drag my city down.....

That's kind of the point of the idiocy of his piece and his ilk really though isn't it mate? They'll meet a scouser and have a whole host of preconceived misconceptions about us that are often nothing but fantasy. If you like him in spite of that, that's your right and nobody should be taking undue stick on here (or elsewhere) for having different views.

The sorts of pieces he writes though are unhelpful and are meant about you and me whether he likes it or not. Or at least they are about us if we showed some sort of remorse to an Evertonian being beheaded by a Jihadi extremist.

People who knows Johnson well don't speak very highly of him. That's not the case with lots of Tory MP''s.

It’s just a name. Obviously the left do not like people calling him Boris because it sounds friendly and no one calls Corbyn Jezza anymore now that they have seen through him. It’s just a name......

Plenty I know call him Jezza, mostly ironically (it's the ones not using it ironically I do worry about). I just think it sounds a bit sad really, like people trying to pretend their mates with someone famous. As I say, I cringe when I hear Kopites do it with "Jurgen" like they're dead familiar. It's dead false.

Boris has a habit of saying uncomfortable things, I don’t even know if he believes in the things he says. Similarly I don’t believe a word Corbyn says. Neither really give a stuff about Liverpool. Meanwhile we have a few professional scousers who will happily lap up anything Corbyn says and demonise anything Boris says because it’s hard wired into their brains that Labour = good, Tory = bad. No thought, no personal analysis, just if you are from Liverpool you must hate Boris. Yet Liverpool is a city of different people and not everyone buys into this non thinking approach. But of course if you dare speak your mind then the usual suspects are all over you. Liverpool once consisted of rich merchants, entrepreneurs, shop keepers and businessmen. It was once a city that voted Tory, in fact it voted Tory for a fair old period. But that was when Liverpool looked outwards to America and the world. The 70’s and the EU killed this, the docks paid a price for being on the wrong side of the country as trade went to Europe and many of today’s scousers have no views other than to slavishly vote for Labour. It’s a shame in my opinion, Liverpool should vote for Liverpool and reclaim its place as a city vibrant for business as well as football and arts.......

I do agree, but Boris is a likeable guy and it just seems more apt and easier to call him Boris rather than Johnson.....

Have you met him to say that? I'm not trying to be antagonistic but most people I know who've met him say the opposite. I know people at the FO who wax lyrical about what a lovely bloke Hunt is compared to Johnson, and Hunt seems incredibly dull. These are often privately educated Tories too, not like lefties. Maybe you've had a different experience?

His now ex wife Wheeler is really nice though. She's a really kind woman and I hope she gets over her cancer.
