Current Affairs Stop calling him Boris

I’m no Boris fan, but I don’t really get this.

The reason people refer to him as ‘Boris’ is surely because it is a very rare name ?

You wouldn’t refer to Tony Blair as ‘Tony’ for precisely the same reason.

Weird thing to take a stand against...

I can agree with that up to a point.

Then I think of Thatcher.

She often was and still is referred to as “Maggie”.....a name as common as Boris is uncommon.

I think referring to demagogues like Thatcher and Johnson simply by their first names bestows a certain unwarranted mystique to Premiers I think did, as in the case of “Maggie” and are currently doing, in the form of “Boris”, tremendous damage to our country.

People called him Boris, Bozzer, BoJo, etc because he Was a joke, now he isnt, in fact, the jokes on us.

Will he go the whole hog and burn down the modern equivalent of the Reichstag...probably not and a good job too, but there is always the thin end of the wedge possibility.
There are no doubt enough of our freedoms already removed (to protect our freedom) that with the powers there are available he won't have to. I'm sure there is an 'Emergency Enabling Act' somewhere to let them do whatever they want, should they wish.

Just as bad as those idiots who sing Corbyn's name to 7 Nation Army. He will be forever known as the Labour leader who was so bad he let a lying imbecile win a majority and ruin the country forever. If we leave on a right-wing Brexit the fallout will be immense and the country will move so far to individualism there will literally be no way back. The rich will get richer, and there will be shanty towns in the next 10 years.

We already have shantytowns apparently, they are just hidden in the back gardens in various cities. Remember the reference to Jezza and the singing of his name at Glastonbury, oh what fun, of course no one calls him Jezza anymore, I wonder why ?......

In your eyes. I´ll always remember him as the fella who changed the course of the Labour Party in modern history. If he hadn´t won that leadership contest in 2015, Labour would still be a pro austerity party. An absolutely astonishing thing to say.

If we lose the election with a similar manifesto to what was put forward in 2017 then I will be distraught for the country but content in the knowledge that they were the right policies. There´s a clear choice to make. People need to engage their brains and look past Boris´ lies and the media´s slurs.

There already are - its called the north of england.

Boris Johnson has just suspended Parliament for the first time since 1629. An unelected PM has asked an unelected monarch to take away the democracy that was fought for by many of our relatives. This is the 1930’s all over again.

And for someone who campaigned for Brexit on the premise of retaining parliamentary sovereignty (which was never ever in danger) he’s now taking away parliamentary sovereignty. He’s acting like a dictator. How hypocritical of him.

And how pathetic. Any other country, this would be stopped.

I can't stand Boris Johnson but to compare him to Hitler is just too much. MPs will have most of October to stop Brexit.

Well guess what Groucho, I’m from Liverpool, I probably lived there longer than you have. I’m a scouser through and through, from a very large family still based in Liverpool. I have been ridiculed for my accent all over the globe and suffered all the usual scouser jokes, which you still living there may not of suffered. So don’t pull the Liverpool collective thing on me. I don’t do self pity city. I take all sorts of crap on here for having the temerity of voting to Leave and I know what various politicians have done for my city. So yes, I support Boris, because he will do what’s right for our country, unlike your champion Corbyn who’s Labour have done absolutely nothing but drag my city down.....
Absolutely appalling post...call yerself a scouser? You are not fit to be called one after your hero liar johnson insulted the city.... what a patronising remark about @Groucho. I have lived in this city for longer than you have......you are better off where you are now. Do us all a favour and dont come back here...Your city?? Traitor
