Current Affairs Stop calling him Boris

Boris Johnson has just suspended Parliament for the first time since 1629. An unelected PM has asked an unelected monarch to take away the democracy that was fought for by many of our relatives. This is the 1930’s all over again.

And for someone who campaigned for Brexit on the premise of retaining parliamentary sovereignty (which was never ever in danger) he’s now taking away parliamentary sovereignty. He’s acting like a dictator. How hypocritical of him.

And how pathetic. Any other country, this would be stopped.

John Major also prorogued Parliament.....

....I thought this was about calling him ‘Boris’, rather than a critique of his worth.

I’ll call him Boris when I start calling Everton players by their first names. Never.

Howie, or Kendall, big Nev or Southall.......

The city as a collective. You know that.

Well guess what Groucho, I’m from Liverpool, I probably lived there longer than you have. I’m a scouser through and through, from a very large family still based in Liverpool. I have been ridiculed for my accent all over the globe and suffered all the usual scouser jokes, which you still living there may not of suffered. So don’t pull the Liverpool collective thing on me. I don’t do self pity city. I take all sorts of crap on here for having the temerity of voting to Leave and I know what various politicians have done for my city. So yes, I support Boris, because he will do what’s right for our country, unlike your champion Corbyn who’s Labour have done absolutely nothing but drag my city down.....

Pete I’m not “pulling anything”.

You seem to have moved on to winding yourself up.

Also you know nothing about me, so don’t assume things please.

I’m no Boris fan, but I don’t really get this.

The reason people refer to him as ‘Boris’ is surely because it is a very rare name ?

You wouldn’t refer to Tony Blair as ‘Tony’ for precisely the same reason.

Weird thing to take a stand against...

Groucho I posted similar in the Fascism thread in reply to Khalekhan's citing the frog in the pot of water metaphor

The water is getting steadily warmer and yet half the UK electorate are like the frog feeling that "its lovely and cosy in here"!!

Need to wake up fast!

Please, for God's sake, stop calling Johnson, Boris. He's not some eccentric relative, who everybody excuses his foibles because he doesn't mean any harm. His inane grin, verbose cod classicist 'witticisms', his 'man of the people' act, his right wing policies which will become ever more pronounced in the months to come (I could go on), and people still insist on using the sobriquet of Boris as if he's a child's cuddly toy. He's a menace, so please stop it.

My thoughts exactly. Been saying this to people for weeks.
