Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

Brexit will affect us signing young starlets from Europe and beyond due to work permit issues not established international stars that we've been linked with this summer.

but look at it in the bigger picture. Ther eis only so many players you can sign under these conditions, and you could well be competing with france (PSG) germany (BAYERN) Spain (REAL BARCA ATHLETICO) and italy (JUVE) to sign them. Combine that with the premium it would then cost to sign the players from these clubs once they have established themselves means it will be hard for a lot of these lower table clubs to be able to compete. This then makes the league devalued as it stops being as open as it is now.

See what i mean. Cause and effect, palace can't compete with the top teams for players and therefore have to sign elsewhere, whereas now they can throw 30 million bids about.

See you are looking at it the wrong way.

Just because they are spending 50 million on signing stones does not mean they intend to make him first choice, actually the real reason is miles away.

They are paying 50 million to acquire the signing of the best english defender for the next 10 years. They aren't buying the player now, they are buying the player he will be. Same as with raheem, they are buying potential and making sure that potential belongs to city. So in 3-4 years time when he kicks on and becomes the player we know he can be, it will be in city's colours rather than chelsea or united's.

Sterling is proper garbage though

Yeh but now it just depends how that money is funnelled. For us, it's probably going to be on a new stadium, for example. A lot of it will go on traditionally 'smaller' clubs having increased gravitas in the market I suppose.

But in regards to clubs like Utd, they could afford the massive deals already. It seems £20mil has now become the new £10mil, but I don't think in the next few years that will have increased to £40mil, if you catch my drift...
In the next few years, (say five?), today's 20 million will be more than 40 million...by a long way.

Well, that sort of made sense, until you mentioned Sterling... who played virtually every game for them last season and whose stock has fallen massively over the past year. That particular 50m player now looked a million miles away from the one Liverpool sold.

not every player they will buy will turn out to be a roaring success though, just like any transfer. Sterling was the best young english player available to buy, so they made sure they got him. If he doesn't kick on then so be it, but there is the chance he does and becomes a much better player. as i said it isn't the player now, it is the potential, and at 20 and 21 they have plenty of time to reach it, whereas signing at 25 puts them on a ticking clock to get good or be dropped. Sterling can be dropped for experience (what stones should have had here) but at his age again he has loads to learn and a whole career ahead of him to do it.

okay I was saying two or three, as my original point was that in the last two years, the prices have shot up so dramatically...

I suppose it remains to be seen though. Your theory is definitely possible, but it could also plateau out.

Has he actually said he wants to leave and go to City or is the Echo just spouting as normal?

I've not seen it anywhere else, other than quoting the Echo.

Just the Echo, though Esk did mention a while back that Stones was the one most likely to be sold.

Propaganda mate.

Plan to sell him? Release a story saying he wants to go again which means the fans don't turn on the club for doing it. even though secretly by selling him he will be benefiting the team ten fold.
