Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

53m says he will also have no place to hide when he joins City. When he joins them, he's joining them as their number one defender and likely with a view to becoming their captain in a few years. Their fans will expect absolutely everything from him, as will the world's media. Every mistake will be scrutinised 10x more than it was at Everton and he'll have to find a way to deal with it and get back onto the field the next game and put it behind him, which he wasn't able to do with us.

their defence last year was almost as bad as ours too.. hes got his work cut out!

I actually think this is the threshold now. When you see players for 15 million who are worth 5 and 25 million bids for 10 million strikers then the market is now at its peak. I can't see any more significant money coming into the game anytime soon, not like it has done this year so to speak.
30 million pound bids for average players isn't sustainable i don't think .
There is literally billions more in the pipeline. Money is pouring out of central bank spigots like there's no tomorrow.

I think you will see a lot of more standard deals even by the end of this window. That may be the reason we are waiting. Let the crazies go first.

Agree.

As of yet, there's no surprising business been done IMO.

It was guaranteed that Chelsea, City, Utd and Arsenal would all spend big. Liverpool always do. Spurs have made some smart moves but not ones that will push them to the next level.

The only thing that will really make this window go totally sideways will be if Pogba gets done, and it depends when. That would kick-start a lot of moves not just in the Prem but all around Europe.

If not, it'll be pretty standard, but as long as we get our targets in (which I believe we will) then I'm fine with it and it'll have been a success - even if Stones does go and as much as I'd love the lad to stay.

Aye but there is a breaking point. and there is only so much value in the premier league, which after we leave the EU will make signing all these boss players much more difficult meaning you will see them move elsewhere, and therefore devalue the league in the long term.

Are all these money sources going to be pumping money into england if the players they really want to be showing have gone to spain, or italy, or germany?

Yeh but now it just depends how that money is funnelled. For us, it's probably going to be on a new stadium, for example. A lot of it will go on traditionally 'smaller' clubs having increased gravitas in the market I suppose.

But in regards to clubs like Utd, they could afford the massive deals already. It seems £20mil has now become the new £10mil, but I don't think in the next few years that will have increased to £40mil, if you catch my drift...

Particularly when he cannot win a defensive header from a se piece - everything else I n his game is spot on, but 50 million plus if offered is a no brainer!

IT doesn't really help proceedings when your manager spends no time practicing how to either!

Brexit will affect us signing young starlets from Europe and beyond due to work permit issues not established international stars that we've been linked with this summer.

The only problem with that is it's a risky strategy and having money to burn is meant to allow us to avoid that scenario. Not every deadline day brings in Barry, McCarthy and Lukaku.

However the fees are ridiculous.

I was on about the window in general mate.

We'll get our top targets in by the time the season starts, I'm sure on that.

Any deals after that will be players deemed surplus to requirements and/or bonus signings

See you are looking at it the wrong way.

Just because they are spending 50 million on signing stones does not mean they intend to make him first choice, actually the real reason is miles away.

They are paying 50 million to acquire the signing of the best english defender for the next 10 years. They aren't buying the player now, they are buying the player he will be. Same as with raheem, they are buying potential and making sure that potential belongs to city. So in 3-4 years time when he kicks on and becomes the player we know he can be, it will be in city's colours rather than chelsea or united's.
Well, that sort of made sense, until you mentioned Sterling... who played virtually every game for them last season and whose stock has fallen massively over the past year. That particular 50m player now looked a million miles away from the one Liverpool sold.
