Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

Whenever a player leaves or looks like he might leave, he automatically becomes "rubbish"

It strikes me as a coping mechanism

Sorry to burst bubbles, but Rom is Boss and Stones is definately Boss

If they leave and go elsewhere, they will still be boss

Doesn't mean we can't cope if they leave or anything like that, but to suddenly act like these excellent players are suddenly pish because they don't want to play for Everton anymore is straight up laughable

This really in a nutshell

My own opinion onthe matter is we are losing the player who will go on to be the best in his position out of anyone in the squad at present (including Barkely, Lukaku and Deulofeu), not ever somethin gto be happy about is that, but at least with this we know the reasons (besides player wanting to move and massive fee we will recieve) and it's so we can as a club go forward and use the loss of a player who could go onto be one of the best there is (could not will) to be strogner as a team.

My exact feelings on it won't be clear though until i see who we get in as a replacement and that the sale is fully reinvested in a replacement/s on top of what we planned to spend anyway on the rest of the squad (which ultimately none of us know so hard to judge)

Stones leaves and Koulibaly (or similar) arrives for 40m and we then go and spend in order to get 4-5 other quality additions to the team, then honestly will wish the lad well and move on easily enough (besides for the two games a season against us when i hope he has an absolutely nightmare and bangs 5 own goals in)

If he doesn't want to play for a up and coming team with financial muscle and a state of the art stadium in the pipeline (hoping) managed by one of the best attacking CB ever then let him go .

Probably because he wants to play for a side challenging for all of the honours currently available, at a state of the art stadium, under one of (if not the) best managers in the world...

If we get £50m+ for him then that would make him the most expensive defender ever(I think) and would be a very good deal for us. I think he'll be a great player in a few years, at the moment he's just a good player with a lot of potential.

Good luck to him and hope he does well. No bitterness here when we receive 50m+ to invest in the team

Posts on here sound like you's got dumped by your birds ...'wel she was putting on weight anyway and her cooking was s**t' . Very amusing

I actually 100% agree with one of your posts. Spot on that, we also seems to become very bitter towards them.

I am not sure it is that simple.
I remember reading previously that the description of a top class goalkeeper is that they make fewer mistakes than other goalkeepers.

The situation is something similar with outfield players. John Stones is a huge talent, but there are mistakes and poor decisions in his game(we have seen those on several occasions.
To become the player that some predict he will become those errors and mistakes need to be eradicated.
The question is can he do that ? That is what will determine what his future status in the game will be.

Everton is more than just an organization. I believe that a football club has a soul and this is as valid as any church or political party or whatever. I love Everton and believe that my connection is more than just some kind of preference. Everton Football club is so much more than a business or corporation. All of those people who have supported our club over the years have given so much. It is an emotional issue. If my fellow Evertonians want to fume about Stones leaving, then bring it on. If Stones wants to go then go, never darken our lives again. You love Everton or you can [Poor language removed] off.

I meant that the physical act of stabbing oneself in the back is very hard to achieve. To do so requires talent. Stones has got a lot of talent.

I agree with you there, his talent for stabbing in the back is unquestionable

At the risk of repeating myself - lets buy in first before we have to sell him. How many times have we sold near the end of the window and bought players in the last day or so.
If we truly have the funds in place, lets bring someone in first and then sell Stones (regrettably for me) in the last week of the window. Its been done to us so many times.

This. CBs more than anyone need time to build an understanding with their partner.

Well said, after over 60 years supporting the Blues its in my blood, insult the club then you insult me, I can't understand how some on here feel otherwise, try to be politically correct or just mistakenly kind. Most on this board would give their right arm for a chance to play at Goodison let alone getting mega bucks for doing so. Stones wasn't brought up a blue, you can tell, but he signed a four year contract when it suited him, he revelled in the praise lavished on him so in my book he take any abuse going for wishing to leave.
