The release about it being a 17 year old from Banks etc etc was said online an hour before it was announced on the news. There's one small other bit of info that the news didn't say, which has separated it from the online rumours at the minute. We shall see if the rumours are true in time..

I just hope we don't see more mass violence/rioting like we have seen aimed at migrants in recent years.
It certainly feels like a tinder box and it's usually yet more innocent people who get caught in the middle.

It has been the darkest day for Southport, but I want to say that the response of the adults who fought the attacker, the members of the public who provided first aid until the emergency services arrived. And all the emergency services was first class and heroic.

Not only have we seen the worst of humanity we have seen the best too.

Feel sick to my stomach seeing the horrific news today, my thoughts are with everyone and my condolences to the families of the two little ones who’ve lost their lives

What I can’t take, like others have said, is the jumpers on who can’t wait to have a go at Starmer and the Government or using it for Yaxley-Lennon style xenophobia without waiting for facts or having zero thoughts to everyone caught up with it

He's been named in news outlets outside of the UK.

You say ‘at the moment’, all we should care about is the horror inflicted on the children, and that is certainly true. Are you then going to conveniently forget about the ‘cause’ of this incident in the coming weeks?

What I mean is, when news first broke through about the attack, you should be thinking about the victims not if the attacker is a different skin colour, different religion or a migrant. Sadly, people will forget about it by the end of the week, never mind in a couple of weeks.

All that matters is the victims, the victims families, witnesses and local community who witnessed such evil and cruelty get the support they need.

You don’t need racist, facist and xenophobic plant pits adding fuel to the fire right now. All it does is cause unrest and more attacks on all innocent victims.
