I think Barry is better coming on second half to preserve a lead or whatever. Starting the match I'm worried he'll tire and make a big blunder.

I doubt Spurs will have prepared with that XI from us in mind tbf. I didn't think Davies or Barry would play and we'd see the same formation as City.

That midfield we've put out could really crowd that middle of the park and make it scrappy which is not what Spurs want and we have enough going forward to counter well as we're playing 3 more advanced.

Could work, but they still have the quality and the home advantage to make tits of us.

That is my biggest fear. I like Barry against certain teams, but Spurs are definitely not one of them. I think we are playing for quick counters here rather than playing for possession. We might see James change that tactic when or if he comes on for Barry.

...much will depend on how the match is going. You would think he would bring an offensive player on if we're behind or McCarthy if we're still in it.

...I had a discussion on here with @bluestevon a couple of days ago and suggested Barry might start because he plays in the same space as opposition players who work 'between the lines'. Like Man City, Spurs have that type. Steven suggests he will get overrun because Spurs have more pace than City and he might be right, time will tell.

The biggets worry with Barry is that it was his lack of pace being exposed by Spurs' high press 2 and a bit years ago that started the rot setting in for how we played under Martinez.

Hopefully he shouldn't be left so exposed today like he was then so if we get the balance of the team right we are in with a chance. Presumably Barry and Schneiderlin will be the "sitters" , Gueye will just go wherever he wants and Davies will do most of the attacking link ups.

Think it's a case of two options:

- Start defensive, see how it goes, bring on more attackers if we go behind, keep it as is or add more defense if winning.

- Start attacking, bring on defense if we're winning, be absolutely screwed if we go behind.

On the basis of that... smart lineup I guess.

An overly weighted midfield may shackle our attacking options early on, but I'm sure the plan is to equally shackle Spurs.

If we can snub their attacking movement from the outset then I think we'll grow in confidence and see changes.

Rightly or wrongly I'd expect Barry to be the deeper playing midfielder as he is more restricted with his movement.

Same as last week but that was

There's no comparison between last week's formation/personnel combo and this one.

We are short on pace now.

Honestly I see this lineup and its a cause for concern. I'm going to assume that Koeman wasn't impressed with Lookman last week and Mirallas/McCarthy are still not 100 percent fit. It's a baffling setup, but with Koeman you never know.
