Mirallas and McCarthy should of been in from the start, as many in here have pointed out already. Mirallas would of been useful running down the flanks vacated by Ben Davies and Walker, in addition to offering more support to Rom. We saw how well they combined for our opening goal. Just a strange Starting XI by Koeman.

Koeman came for a draw, playing a team of defenders & CDMs, + Barkley+ Lukaku. That meant we posed no threat on the flanks, and coleman and baines were both pinned back, and their defender Vertongen was under so little pressure he was able to become an attacking midfield player for the game.

One positive was that a display like that wont have improved his chances to move to Barcelona.

General play, sure, but free kicks are a different animal, and consistently its a disaster when hes taking them.

...yes, we are poor and it's something we need to address in the summer because dead ball situations are such a productive part of the game that we continually fail to exploit. Saying that, the ball in for Valencia's goal was fine.

Looking back not in the heat of the moment it is still crazy that he moved Gana out of his best position and played Barry there. Just a really weird and ultimately bad decision

I think Gana played more forward against Sunderland too - where he had a fantastic game - we should have kept going with the same formation as formthst game.

Koeman made a mistake.

One he MUST learn from before we go to Anfield.

There really was no need to scrap the attacking football style we'd become accustomed to in recent weeks. We gave Tottenham far too much respect yesterday.

West Brom lost which was important in European qualification terms.

Having reflected its interesting we have similar problems to Liverpool. Like klopp Koemans default formation is 433, and like Liverpool we don't have all the players to play it. I think unlike the great unwashed were sorted at fullback (cover permitting) and from a defensive point of view our midfield 3s good. But also like them we lack two really good centre half's that allow the players either side of the focal point to tuck in and allow both full backs to get forward to cause overloads out wide. Were they have a strong front 3, we definitely need at leat another player. Ross can do a job on one side, but unfortunately mirallas can't seem to nail down the other side, Bolasies crocked, lookman too callow. Like klopp, Koeman has maybe been a tad arrogant and pig headed. Possibly the recent run against mainly average teams has led him to believe the team can play 433. Spurs showed they can't. Also helps if you pick the right players. To play 433 Barry was a cumbersome midfielder too many. Mirallas or even lookman should have started if he wanted too play the formation correctly. Be interesting to see if he goes pragmatic now and goes back to a back 3. His other option in 433 is play Holgate and Williams, and drop a midfielder for probably mirallas. It's a headscratcher. But on his wages I expect the manager to be up to it.
