Koeman came for a draw, playing a team of defenders & CDMs, + Barkley+ Lukaku. That meant we posed no threat on the flanks, and coleman and baines were both pinned back, and their defender Vertongen was under so little pressure he was able to become an attacking midfield player for the game.

One positive was that a display like that wont have improved his chances to move to Barcelona.
Poch will get the Barca gig instead!

Koeman was right to think the midfield battle was key. You could also tell from the way he set up that he was well aware of the threat from the fullbacks. In my opinion, McCarthy would have been a better pick than Barry, because of the energy he brings and the fact that he will get forward more, which we needed with that defensive formation. The first goal was poor. We stood off Kane far too much, giving him space on the edge of the box. No excuse for that with the number of defensive personnel selected.

Koeman put Barry in to stop them from finding space and tbh it worked perfectly. Unfortunately Kane unlike Rom has the ability to score from outside the box, had that not gone in then it would have been a different game, the crowd were silent and although under presser we were in control.

Kane hits a great strike and for 5-10 minutes we were like a Martinez team again, panic set in, kick the ball anywhere type of play.

The second goal well what can you say... Luck of the 2nd place team, should of been an Everton throw and then Robles makes a terrible decision, as does Snides and Bam 2-0 down.

Lukaku has matured this season as his goal showed, gets 1 chance and buries it. Robles then makes a fine save off Kane, stop him getting his hat trick.

Tiredness showed at the end with Coleman giving away 2 stupid free kicks and the defence completely switched off for Ali goal.

Overall Spurs were the better team with much better Chances but at least we went there and got 2 goals, alright we lost but as they had only conceded 5 goals at home all season thought that was a positive.

I thought that Mickey Hazard was their weak link along with Ralph Coates . Tony Parks isn't the best keeper in the league and , in my opinion , we missed a trick by not playing Claus Thomson , Kevin Langley and Ian Wilson in midfield :-)

just watching the match ( as I was working yesterday), first 20 minutes absolutely nothing in it, Barry and Morgan are fine as they are the shield for the cb's but I just can't fathom what he was asking Gana and Davies to do because they are really neither here nor there. Even after about 10 minutes you can see this, Spurs have a high line and we should have well shifted the personel about. Gana playing more like a right winger here ffs.

Piss poor from Barry for the goal but Gana is just jogging alongside Kane and does nothing and Morgan is only 5 yards away and is just coasting towards him. Joel should be saving that like but after such a solid 20 minutes where they hadn't threatened, to give such a soft goal away was ridiculous.

just watched the whole first half. Apart from a 9 minute spell between the 20th and 29th minute there is barely anything in it. I'm afraid this falls on Koeman because Gueye simply doesn't know what he's doing and Davies just doesn't have a role. Totally different to how we set up against Sunderland. Basically no out ball, as where Gueye and Davies are occupying space we could and should have had Mirallas and Lookman. Barry nowhere near as bad as was made out compared to them two, though I can't blame them because they were obviously being told to do something specific from Koeman.

A couple of times we nearly got in, though nearly isn't good enough. If i was watching this yesterday and it was half time it would be Gueye or Davies I would be looking to bring off or drop Gueye back and take off either Barry or Schneiderlin.

Koeman made a mistake.

One he MUST learn from before we go to Anfield.

There really was no need to scrap the attacking football style we'd become accustomed to in recent weeks. We gave Tottenham far too much respect yesterday.

West Brom lost which was important in European qualification terms.

I think you should put that wine glass down John :drunk:

Spurs have players who are so comfortable on the ball they can move it about at speed. They know where each other are too. There's always a man available. We tend to deliberate overmuch and we're not comfortable with the quick passing game.

Not yet anyway.

how the hell it took Koeman to hook Gueye 80 minutes I'll never know. Out of all the midfielders ( though this won't be popular ) Barry was better than Schneiderlin, Gueye and Davies. There's just no point in playing Morgan and Barry together as they want to do the same job but I want to see way more from Schneiderlin that yesterday, offered absolutely zip with and without the ball.

Such a strange game from Koeman, quicker changes and I still think we could have got something from the game.
