No thats fair on Baines, however if you are looking at 1 off games you are best to pick one where you want to be. He's a solid defender, but I am not sure he's what Koeman wants long term. As I said I'd try for Chilwell or Robertson, knowing in some games you can play them in front of Baines.

It's a fair point on Mori. I see his strengths as he is quite aggressive, decent in the air and not the slowest. He also makes quite good last ditch tackles/blocks. To me he's an instinctive player, when he doesn't have to think about the game he is better. As sides get better though, with more intelligent forwards, they will target him. I can us bringing 2 centre backs in if Mori goes. Would be happy with Keane & Gibson.
I could see a good 3 at the back with holgate right side Keane in the middle & Gibson left side.

I think it would suit all 3 of them too

Bit disappointing to see a lad chuck his black armband off the side of the pitch halfway during the first half... Think it was mori, but not 100%

Today fully highlighted the enormity of the job Walsh and the board have on their hands this summer. Cannot afford another BK and Elstone screw up.

Absolutely. This season was a rebuild of the damage done previously. Next season there are no excuses.

Unfortunately today showed the gulf not only between us and the likes of Spurs, but also the rest of the top teams in Europe. Spurs have a superb side, yet still don't look like they will start winning titles (Yet) and were absolutely rolled over in Europe.

I think the time for sentiment is gone. Despite going on a good run, the squad is still a long way off, as is Koeman in finding the right system. Although both the squad and Koeman have improved over the season, today showed the same mistakes being made.

I think today we realised that there is a massive gulf in quality between us and the top 4

We need 2 top quality centre halves and a creative midfielder
I don't think we are that far off TBH. Bar two horrific defensive lapses we would have got something from the game. Saying that though spurs were a lot better than us but when the subs finally happened we looked a much more balanced side and matched them from then on.

Yesterday however really highlighted how some players just aren't up to it. When the pressure is on they crumbled, rfm was diabolical all game. Barry while he was put in the team specifically to help keep Kane and Ali quiet he did the exact opposite. I've literally never seen a defensive midfielder lose the ball as much as he did yesterday. I know that's because he legs have gone and he's 55 but koeman shouldn't have played him in this type of game especially when he's got McCarthy on the bench who could have done the role Barry should have done, but actually pressing the ball.

Let's draw a line under this and move on.

I would say we need the following in the summer;

Top class goalie
Centre half
Left back
Right back
Centre forward
Attacking Midfielder
Right and Left winger

Not much to ask for.

Very disappointing after a promising start. A narrow score line was what I thought might happen but it masked a dominance that we headed Spurs on a plate with a combination of Barry being shoe horned into the team when yet again it showed he can probably only do about 20 minutes to help close a game. As soon as a younger more energetic set of players get at him he is struggling. I still think we could have got something out of it with the same set up we had last week. Last 15 showed what might have been once we gave it a bit of a go.
Can't add anything original to the comments already made. Barkley did well but that set up is too narrow, relies heavily on full backs bombing on and today Seamus's crossing was not up to much and there is nothing in possession from Bainsey on the left. He barely tries to go past any one at the moment it seems to me. And when he turns inside to RFM the oppo don't even press. They know the pass will be misplaced 9/10 times. Not the worst defender in the western world but passing really is not his thing. They just have to block Baines' progress up the line and the dominoes fall into place. Possession won about 6 seconds later and hardly any effort expended.
Still believe we can do better than that even against a decent team like Spurs. They are just decent, not world beaters. Self belief, energy and commitment please lads, nothing to lose in showing that.

Probably away from the negativity , getting beat by a team who have won the last 9 home games in a row, are second in the league and are largely a better team than us isn't the end of the world.

Yes we may not have helped ourselves today but we were due a bad game and better to get it out the way against a team away where we were probably going to struggle to win anyway. As much as I would have loved 3 points here, we are still not in a position to challenge that top 4 just yet
Much as I agree on most points .............We are judged against Spurs ....We have to beat them to move forwards
