I am hoping the calls for every PL player this weekend to wear a black knee-band (with VVD printed on it no-less!), do not gain any more traction as Ii feel (ironically) it would be a distraction.
Difficult game but quality will out 2-1 to us (Ings to score their goal of course)

Gary Lineker scores his first and Everton’s third goal in their 6-1 win against Southampton. This match was played on the 3rd May 1986 at Goodison Park.

I can remember 8-0 in 1971. Apparently it was 20th November!! I was only 5 but it is still in my memory

@ELMSWOOD48 I remember this 6 1 game, everton club shop were selling post cards later on with a picture of the score board on.

If we really are a side to be messed with we will put in a performance here. Coming off an emotional game last weekend, down one of our better players and facing a decent side away from home is the type of matchup where a top team just gets it done.

As I keep saying, we should not be taking any team for granted this season, even dogs like Fulham can have their day.

No fans levels every field.

Fans or no fans that is true. Top teams are top teams every time they walk out. That expectation of winning is something we've missed. It is why United and Chelsea put out entire new XIs in Europa League games and get through while we go out with close to a first team. We need to develop that winning culture.

Away performances have been our Achilles heel for ages (although signs of improvement under Ancelotti). If you win lots of sways the confidence flows into the next home game and that’s where runs of form are built. Not winning the always just puts the pressure straight back on. If we want to be a top 4 team, we go out and find a way to win against a very decent Southampton team, just like we did at Spurs and Palace.

I'd take the team down to Bournmouth on the Saturday morning. Spend the day and the night there. The people there would be cheering us on and wishing us well against their rivals and get the players buzzing on some positive vibes after what has probably been a difficult week. Short journey across to Soton on the Sunday morning and in to them.
