The only people who mattered at the UN were the permanent members of the security council. China only ever votes for itself, Russia uses it's veto for it's allies, the French are still cheese eating surrender monkeys, which left the USA and UK to bring sense to the world. As of yesterday we are no longer the country we were. Miliband is a coward and a disgrace........

Christ almighty, just listening to that great parliamentarian Diane Abbot saying that we should let the UN sort it out. This is the same UN that has overseen every major war and genocide over the last 50 years without once intervening without being led by the UK or USA. Do these people not realise that the UN is the worlds talking shop and that only 3 of the PM's have ever made a difference. I'm now listening to Miliband and feel sick listening to this absolute wimp of a man trying to justify his cretinous behaviour..........

They didn't elect us, they didn't give us a mandate, it is in no way our responsibility.

But don't we, as a nation with means to, have an obligation and duty of care to protect vulnerable people?

We are a permanent member of the UN Security Council, with responsibilities. Either we are interested purely in ourselves or we are interested in the security of the world. If the former, give up our seat and become an Ireland, if the latter then behave as we have the ability to do so. Younger people on here may not remember that we have been and still are a major military power. We should also behave as one......
