Of course we will.

And very, very gladly in the case of this veteran Blue.

This thing with Sky today?

It is half a century too late but better late than never.

EFC never embraced the nascent TV age in the 60s and missed out as Spurs, United and the RS became the media darlings they are today.

Even Chelsea became synonymous with Swinging London and the King's Road zeitgeist.

People talk about Nicholson, Busby and Shankley to this very day because they put themselves and their clubs out there....whereas few outside Evertonia recall the taciturn Harry Catterick whom famously banned the cameras from Goodison on one occasion.

We had our best ever team in the mid to late 80s but missed out on a chance to step into the media limelight due to football becoming a dirty word in this country after Bradford, Heysel and Hillsborough.

And when the Sky/EPL gravy train pulled out the station in the early 90s we stood on the platform waving our "Big Five" status adieu.

So yes....let us act now to increase our media profile.

But ultimately there is no better way to do that than by actually winning lots and lots of football games and scoring lots and lots of goals in the process ;)

I must say I loved this attention all morning......and it was done, as one would expect with our beloved club, with a great deal of class and a complete lack of hyperbole.

I can honestly say that right here, right now I have never felt so good about EFC and our future prospects.

You young blokes whom have known little but heartbreak all your football supporting lives.....fasten your seatbelts.

I think you are all in for one heck of a ride over the coming decades

If you're referring to me as one of the young blokes, ta very much. I must tell the missus.

I remember the latter part of the sixties but didn't start going the match until the mid seventies. All my family are reds and parents wouldn't let me go the game on my own until I was 14. But I was a regular when we had the great team of the eighties and have tasted success as a blue, so I know there's no better feeling.

I'm loving Everton being the centre of attention today and agree that the future is looking really positive, especially on the ground front.

I would love us to become the global success we aspire to be but remain a key part of our City with the local support links and EITC.
So many of our peers have achieved the first part and completely neglected the second.
Football clubs were set up as part of their communities. No matter how massive they become they should always remember that heritage.
I think that will be something that will remain an ethos of our great club though no matter what the next (hopefully success filled) years may bring.
Fully agree mate. I can't see any reason why we couldn't combine the two but, as you say, nobody else seems to have been able to in the past.

My posts were more about how we are going to be perceived by other clubs fans. On one level, it's quite nice to read other supporters say nice things about us and we have lots of regular posters on this forum from other clubs who are, on the whole, made very welcome. In a way I'm quite proud that we are, on the whole, quite well respected by our peers. However, I'm also conscious that this is partly because we are not perceived as a threat by them. That will change. The top 6 will treat us as proper rivals, and the rest will look upon us with envy. It's just the natural way of things.

What we do in the community will wrongly be viewed in a different light (not by any of us I might add), as would the fantastic gesture the club made with young Bradley which would probably be construed as a publicity stunt by money bags Everton, rather than the plaudits we quite rightly received.

Or do you think I'm just being a cynic?

Was anything said about Lukaku's contract?
He said his agent deals with all those things. He just concentrates on playing football.

He didn't say that his agent was talking through his arse when he said he was 99.999% certain to sign a new contract.

My take on that is. Agent says he's signing a new contract and Rom saying his agent deals with all those matters equals Rom signing a new contract.

However I suspect your take on it will be a bit different Dave:)
