Get the ball up to the big man and get support in around him. It works when you have the players to do it, which we sort of do now, with baines and Coleman supporting wide, Barkley and Lookman getting in the box and Davies, schniderlin and Gana taking it in turns to hold or go forward.

In previous teams we have tried this tactic and failed because we haven't got enough support into the striker quickly

...and it doesn't necessarily mean play long passes. If there's space ahead then exploit it by going directly at the opposition. There was one incident on Saturday where we broke, three or four players in unison bombing from the edge of our own area. I think that's the type of situation they will work on in training.

What I don't understand is, why choose Everton? I know it was Moshiri's anniversary yesterday but he has not been seen. I think there is more to this but I just don't know what. Surely us sat in 7th isn't such a massive draw that would require a whole day devoted to us for absolutely no apparent reason??

...I wouldn't be surprised if the club haven't initiated this.

I get that the exposure is welcome but surely we don't need a whole day of this, it's embarrassing if nothing is actually happening.
Why do you think it's embarrassing mate?. It's not as if the whole program is being transmitted from FF. By the end of the day I'd be surprised if the total footage came to much more than an hour.

The only people that built this up into being something it isn't are ourselves. Unless they've been trolling this forum, people around the country won't have the foggiest that we'd all built ourselves into a frenzy over Rom's contract and BMD. And I bet they're all as jealous as hell, fuming that little old Everton are getting this coverage and not them. Especially our neighbours.

Just accept it for what it is, a bit of uncommon exposure for the club, a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes at FF, and a bit more ammunition for Dave to weave his magic.:)

I can just see the Mosh with one of those flip boards, the press gathered.
He flicks over the page to reveal a Van Gogh like artists impression of the most beautiful stadium you ever did see.
The Mersey in the background, complete with yachts and things.

Even if it was financially doable (its not) that deal would have made sense 18 months ago, not now.

I dont see this lad as having longevity. It'd be a meaningless nostalgia trip now, and a massive waste of cash.

This all just PR BS trying to boost our status.

I think you're probably right DAve. In another year or so, Rooney could become a liability on the pitch, and his worth as a marketing asset would deteriorate rapidly, because he is not the sort who will become an 'iconic former footballer' like a Beckham, whose marketing worth increased once he stopped playing. Nor is Rooney the sort who would make an exceptional pundit....could not see him on Jeff Stellings panel for example. Rooney was simply a great footballer, whose powers are now decreasing with age. So its a NO from me.

Simply Sky realising that the big Blue Phoenix is rising from the flames!!!!!!!!

;)

Rooney is a no for me for the following reasons:

1) He's past his best in a position where you need to be sharp
2) He could be keeping one of our young lads out of the team
3) Our club should no longer be an elephant's graveyard for players
4) He will be overpriced for what he is
5) He was a rat in the past regarding our club - yadda yadda, "young lad", "all make mistakes", "short career" - WHATEVER! I. DON'T. CARE. I don't forgive easily, and I certainly don't forget when it comes to people talking crap about the club they once "loved".

All that being said, I would put money on him coming in the Summer, and will cheer him on like I do all the other blue boys.
