Sir Landon Of Donovan

The ongoing setiment for Landon staying in the US vs. Europe is around 95% for going and about 5% staying. The 5% mostly comes from the he might get injured before the WC and maybe some Galaxy fans however most Galaxy fans think he should go as well.

Lets hope that 10M buyout is real and we could stump the money for it.

Most MLS fans go to the matches for the love of the game/tailgating, not because of the players on the pitch. We know the players aren't that great (though the league is way better than it credits for) and want to see our best go to Europe.

The G's, and their skipper, have unfinished business, a loss in the MLS Cup final and a chance to play into the World Club Championships, not something that will happen at Everton.

You're right, he won't get to play in the World Club Championships if he stays at Everton but that competition is not exactly taken seriously over here. I'd say playing in the best league in the world would be much more of an attraction than playing in a nothing tournament.

It's not taken seriously over here either. He should stay at Everton if he can.

I am at a loss for seeing any reason Donovan has to return to the MLS.

He's settling well at Everton and there certainly appears to be a mutual attraction. Playing in the Premier League against the best players in the world week in and week out versus the MLS which is improving quality-wise but is a far cry from the talent in the Premier League and if you haven't already put down the Kool-Aid, will never be on the same level as the Premier League.

Donovan has achieved what he needs to achieve in the MLS. Now its time for him to see what he can do in a world-class league. I'm sorry but your ambition as a professional footballer must be to play and win at the highest possible level. Anything short of that is just collecting a paycheck.

He's tried loans in Germany that didn't pan out. So far, it looks like he's found a good home at Goodison Park. He's making $2.5 million in MLS, Everton can meet those wages (29,900 pounds/week) so money shouldn't be an option. He has nothing left to prove back in the States and I think going back would be a mistake - shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I'm just amazed that Kyle Naughton has had twice as many views as Donovan.

I look forward to what he can produce at the World Cup, one to watch perhaps.

If he is pivotal in overcoming Inglaterra this summer I'll have a platinum statue of him in the garden.

No one gives a crap about that tournament. SuperLiga gets more love

And it's not like Landon hasn't won the MLS cup before. He has nothing left to prove in the States.

American here, not that familar with the team yet. Though I'm really excited the game Sat is on ESPN, I'll be up early to catch it.

Anyway, here's my question. I was under the impression that LD would be getting playing time right now cause you guys have some guys out of action right now. So I guess my question is, A) True? And if so, B) Would LD be a regular starter once you guys get back to full strength? Because to me, I'm inclined to think Landon would prefer being a regular starter for LA over a spot starter for Everton. Otherwise, I'm pro-leaving MLS. Just curious...

if he puts in a shift he'll start the games, Moyes leaves a winning team as it is, unless its enforced through injury

He's played considerable minutes since arriving and has been in the starting 11 in the last three matches. He's certainly making a good impression.

Arteta will be back shortly and when Hibbert returns, it will be interesting to see how Moyes will use both Donovan and Neville (captain) in the MF.

Like Chicago Toffee said, He is making a good impression. If he keeps playing the ways he has since he joined us or better yet if he continues to improve then he'll probably be in the starting 11 most of the time. If he suffer a dip in form then he'll hit the bench. So it's really up to him, which is great cus he'll work even harder to stay in the starting 11 which would benefit both club and country.

Anyways even if LD doesn't start every game he'll still get alot of playing time specially if we qualify for europe next season.

We are short on wingers and LD brings something different to what we've got so I'm very confident he'll continue to get a lot of playing time.

Landon is a geezer . On Sat' , he will experience an Anfield Derby . Should we actually turn up there , I believe this may be the clincher . That , and Chelski on Wed's .
He'll score at the Shabs .

I can't wait for this weekend Merseyside Derby, is about time we beat them if he does something similar to the City match, we could be in for a big scoreline.

Do you know anything about what would happen to Donovan after his 10 weeks is over? Any chance he is staying longer?
